I step into the foyer of one of the biggest hotels in Korea. I'm impressed by the huge size of the lobby. Busy people are circulating around me. I try to make my way to the announcement boards that I spot on my left. It is very hectic and I require some time to get through the mass of people. Finally, in front of the panels, I start to look for the tag of the school that has offered me the possibility to teach English in this foreign country.
Unfortunately, I do not make out one single thing that is in front of my eyes. I scan the board again and decide to go to room Number 0336 as the logo on the information is similar to the one in the email I received from the school.

I jog through the hallway that leads to the designated room and once I reach the indicated door, I take one deep breath before opening it and enter. The inside is filled with beautiful women sitting around, portfolios in their hands. I hope that this is the right place but do not question it further. I make my way to an available chair and after I'm seated, I check my surroundings again. The women in the room are all breathtakingly gorgeous and dressed to impress. I look down at myself and grab my bag. Today, I have chosen to wear a black pencil skirt with a white blouse and a pair of sneakers. In a hurry attempt to match the others in the room, I take out the black pumps that I have in the bag as I refrained from wearing them on my 10-hour flight here.

Flashback 2 days ago

I sit  in my small apartment, bored to death. I've just been fired the day before because I did not agree to go on a date with my boss. He said I was not a team player and handed me my resignation letter one hour later. I can not say that it bothers me much as it should as I did not intend to work there longer than needed. I only took the job to have money to pay the rent.

I open my laptop and scroll through my social media. For some time now, I am interested in K-Pop and K-Dramas, so I decide to spend my afternoon watching my favorite series on Netflix and browse the latest news about the idols I like. Suddenly an ad pops up.

"Can you speak English?
Are you not afraid to take up a challenge?
Do you need a change in scenery?"

"Yes, yes, and yes!" I don't hesitate to click on the link attached to it. A website of an international school in Seoul, Korea shows up. They are looking for new teachers. English is a must but every other language is considered a plus. Being fluent in 3 more languages than English and having notions in 3 others, can come in handy sometimes. For me, this is a sign to change my uneventful life and start to discover a new world full of excitement. I apply immediately through an online form and hope for the best.
Only two days later an email from the school appears in my inbox. They expect me to come to Seoul so that they can fully interview me and see if I am a fit for their school.
Flashback end

The women around me give side glances. So, right now I feel out of place. Not wanting to stand out more than I already do, as the only foreigner in this whole room, I pick out my little make-up bag. I apply a little more lipstick and mascara and peek at myself through the small mirror that I always carry in my purse. I'm certainly not as beautiful as the others in the room but I do not think that looks matter more than knowledge and experience for this job.

One after the other, the women go in and come out with a triumphant smile. The room clears out quickly, only leaving me remaining. An older woman comes outside to invite me to follow her same as the others have done before me.
After I enter the large conference room, I come face to face with another woman and two men sitting behind a long white table. I slightly bow at them and move forward to take a seat at the chair in front of the table. I'm a bit taken aback by the fact that several cameras are pointed at me. However, as this is my first interview in another country, I do not let it distract me because this may be a usual thing for them.
