You run down the stairs and regret your decison.
You were nothing without Spencer but he kept hurting you. He had a problem which stemmed into your heroine addiction.
You had no where else to go and you have no clue where you were going.
You run out of the building and look around to see where you could go. You walk over to a gas station, you pull out the few dollars you have in the pocket of your shorts.
You go up to the counter and ask for a pack of Marlboro reds and give seven dollars to the cashier.
He gives you the change the pack of cigarettes, and the receipt.
You walk outside and feel for your pockets for a lighter. There was one, you take it out and tap the pack of the cigarettes on your palm before opening them and taking the foil out of it.
You take one out and light it. You sit on the concrete sidewalks and look out, trying to figure out what to do.
You could rent a hotel but you didn't have your wallet on you so you would have to go back to Spencer's to get it. You didn't want to do that, it would be weird. He could possibly be drunk and you didn't want to have to deal with that again.
You sit there, taking a drag of your cigarette one after the other.
You look around at all the people walking in and out of the gas station, people pumping gas, people suspiciously sitting in their car.
You take your phone from your pocket and turn it on to check the battery and the time.
Your phone is almost dead and its really late at night.
Your so overwhelmed but you're able to keep a good posture. You have no clue what you are going to do and I'm pretty sure Spencer knows that.
You pull out your phone and decide to call one of your friends.
You explain your situation to her and she agrees to come pick you up and let you spend the night with her.
You thank her repeatedly and look for her car a couple of minutes later.
She pulls up beside you and you get into the passenger of her car. You put your cigarettes in your pocket as you do and thank her once again for letting you stay with her.
She drives you two to a house in a dangerous looking neighborhood and pulls in a driveway.
You both get out.
"Where's your stuff?"
"I kinda left abruptly."
"Oh, alright."
You both go into the door that squieks really loud when you open it.
You've been here before but it had been a while, she straightened herself out but she couldn't afford anything out of this neighborhood.
"Where's your kids?"
"With their dad."
You go and flop on the couch.
"How's your mom?"
"She's gotten a lot better. She made me a cake for 30 days sober."
"Have you gotten a job yet?"
"Yeah, I got a job at the Burger King where we used to go after school."
"Is the paycheck good?"
"Hell no but I'm living here rent free so its enough to feed my kids and me. What about you?"
"I got a job."
"Oh cool, as what?"
"FBI agent."
She pauses and looks at you, "did I hear that right?"
"Yeah, Spencer works with me and shit. It was cool but I don't know if I want to go back."
You two have a long conversation about life and catch up until you see a bright light through the living room window. You look out and see a car, whoever was in it was honking the horn very loud.
You and your friend go to investigate, you two walk out the door. Spencer is standing behind the open car door.
Great.
