The ashy bodies. The smell of burnt skin. The sound of fire and those who were burning to death. The realization that our team could be dead. The realization that we're stuck here. Nothing can amount to the amount of destruction caused. The area within fifty meters of the blast zone was jelly and burning. Beyond that, dark skies from the dust and ash. Constant coughing from the smoke. Deformed bodies. Our teammates nowhere to be found. Those responsible for this mess, Delta, nowhere to be found. The cargo ship half sunken, I heard muffled screams from inside. We worked for half an hour to get the large door opened, but it was securely locked. The screams stopped only a few minutes later and the person inside spoke their final words. The destruction of the buildings. The innocent civilians killed. The civilians who were hiding in their homes, scared of Delta. The water around the ship had a light red and yellowish coloration; telling me that was a mixture of blood and gas. We were stranded. Our electronics still offline. Our lives possibly at stake. The sky full of debris and ash. The outback was dry, but cold... But hot. We were trapped here. We couldn't leave. Sledge came out of one of the destroyed buildings and was barely walking. When we spotted him, we couldn't get to him before he collapsed. It was like time went slow motion as Sledge, a good friend, fell to the debris on the ground. This feels like a movie. When Sledge struck the ground, the dust and ash rose up in a small cloud around his body. I looked off into the distance, into the open outback and saw one single light hundreds of meters away.
