Four years later.

"You're late!" Ava shrieks as I step through the door. The plush brown carpet is soft beneath my feet as I slip my shoes off.

"I know, I know. I was supposed to be here thirty minutes ago, but your mom and I needed to complete a surgery, it took a bit longer than expected."

I'm officially a surgeon, well I'm completing my residency program first, I have one year left and I'm working under the best general surgeon there is. Ana Thompson has taken me under her wing, showing me everything she knows. I applied to one hospital for my residency and considering I missed the deadline, they accepted me, and I have an inkling it has something to do with the Thompsons.

"Speaking of, where is she?"

"She'll be here."

"We need to get dressed, do your hair and makeup." Ava paces the length of the beige room, her silky robe flowing behind her.

"Where's the hair stylist and makeup artist?" I ask, my eyes wandering around the room with crisp white curtains hanging by two large windows allowing natural light to pour in, between the two windows is a station designed for hair and makeup and an elegant rosy pink sofa sits in the center of the room with a matching single armchair next to it with a coffee table in perfect reach for any occupants of the sofas.

"Her name is Tessa and it's just one person. She just left to grab a coffee." Ava responds, walking over to the garment bag hanging on the door of a large two-door closet, another garment bag hanging on the other door, she unzips it slowly as if she's carefully trying not to damage the item inside.

The stunning ivory white, mermaid, strapless wedding dress catches my attention, and I can't help the smile that spreads across my lips, it's beautiful...

"You're going to look so stunning."

Ava zips down the second garment bag and the maroon floor length matron of honour's dress stares back at me, the sweetheart neckline is encrusted with white stones that glint in the light and these dresses are usually hideous but not this one.

Light tapping on the door draws my attention away from the dresses and I call out, "come in."

"You girls aren't even dressed yet." Ana scolds us as soon as her eyes land on us, an unknown black-haired young female entering behind her.

"Lo this is Tessa, Tessa this is Logan." We smile politely at each other and exchange pleasantries.

"Right," Ana claps her hands together, "Ava go get dressed, Lo it's time for your hair and makeup." We jump into action, knowing it's unwise to argue with her.

"I was right, you look absolutely stunning."

My eyes tear up and I begin fanning my face with my hands not wanting to ruin Tessa's hard work, "I'm so proud of you."

"Stop! You're going to make me cry."

"Shit, I'm gonna make myself cry!"

"It's time." Ana enters with Eric following behind.

"You girls look beautiful." He kisses our cheeks before stepping aside to open the door wider.

"Ready?"

"Long ago."

The double doors open, and we exit. The aisle has a soft-looking red carpet leading to the altar and it's lined with white and maroon flowers, I feel his eyes on me as I take my first step down the aisle and my surroundings disappear when my eyes connect with his amber ones. I feel that familiar spark from across the room and I can't seem to focus on anything but him. The world around me ceases to exist as I stare back.
