Chapter 85
ShyAnne's POV
*One Month Later*
I'm so thankful my mom came out to help. This month has flown by and has been so easy since I haven't had to take care of two babies alone. We've fallen into a nice routine that works really well. I Skype with Andy everyday and let him see the babies. Their faces light up when they see him on the screen. I'm sure they're so confused, but this will soon become a normal thing in their life.
BVB has their LA show in a week and Andy can't stop talking about how excited he is to see us. He's been counting down the days. They have a day off after the show so Andy will get to spend the night at home which we are both so excited for.
I was sleeping when Eliza's cry woke me up. I got up and picked her up, rocking her a bit. I took a moment to look at Elijah and my breath caught in my throat. He was making small grunting noises and he was taking very fast breaths. I flipped on the light and saw that his skin had a blue tint.
"Fuck." I said quietly, running out to the living room, a crying Eliza still in my arms.
"MOM!" I screamed up the stairs, my mind racing. I heard the door open and my mom hurtled herself down the stairs. "Can you grab a bottle and start feeding Eliza? Elijah can't breathe." I said, passing Eliza to her.
"What?"
"He's blue and he's struggling to breathe. I need to go to the ER now." I said, running back into my bedroom. I pulled on sweatpants and a T-shirt, scooping Elijah up.
"I'm going to go start the car up." My mom said, grabbing the keys and leaving the house with Eliza. I grabbed the diaper bag and placed a few bottles in it before running out of the house with Elijah. I strapped him into his seat, my mom sitting in the backseat between the two car seats. I got in the drivers side and sped to the hospital. I parked in the parking lot and rushed into the ER with Elijah.
"My baby can't breathe." I cried to the nurse at the front desk. She quickly called another nurse who came out and grabbed my son, telling me to follow her. She placed him in an adult-sized hospital bed and he looked so small. She handed me a clipboard and left. I stood next to him and held his hand, stroking the back of it with my thumb. I picked up the clipboard and quickly filled it out, placing it on the bed.
"Hello." A different nurse greeted as she walked over to us. She tried to listen to Elijah's heart and lungs with a stethoscope but frowned. "We're going to take him for a chest x-ray to see what's going on." She said as another nurse brought over a bassinet. They moved him to the bassinet and wheeled him away.
"You can go wait in the waiting room, we'll let you know when he's out of the x-ray." The original nurse told me. I nodded and made my way back towards the waiting room. I saw my mom sitting in the corner, holding Eliza.
"Hi baby girl." I cooed, wiping my face. I grabbed her from my mom and held her close, grateful for one healthy child.
"How is he?" My mom asked.
"They're taking him for a chest x-ray." I said, holding back tears. "They couldn't tell me anything more." I said, shaking my head. I placed a kiss on Eliza's forehead and handed her back to my mom. "I'm going to call Andy." I told her, walking to a secluded place in the waiting room. I pulled out my phone and pressed Andy's contact, holding the phone to my ear.
"ShyAnne?" Andy answered with a groggy voice. I squeezed my eyes shut, a few tears slipping out. I opened my mouth to speak but only a sob came out. "ShyAnne." He said again, a little more awake. I heard movement on his end and assumed he was moving away from the bunks.
