My eyes shot open, the sound of someone knocking on the door catching my attention. I was still sort of in a daze from the dream I just had though. I had seen my best friend for the first time in two years and there was no doubt in my mind that it was real; the knock on the door actually proved it to be very real.
Looking over at the clock on my bedside table, I noticed the time was 2:34 in the afternoon. I sighed and sat up. I really needed to stop sleeping so late in the day, but it was very understandable as to why I was so tired. Not many people got to spend almost a week running through Egyptian deserts in three inch heels all while dodging alien missiles. Plus I was mentally exhausted due to post Egyptian events. It would take a while for the exhaustion to leave my system.
I quickly got out of bed and ran over to the door before my supposed roommate could knock again. I pulled the door open and my eyes met that of a girl who looked just a little bit younger than I did, a strange feeling of comfort flowing inside my body. She had multiple suitcases in her hands and that only helped to prove my dream was much more real than I thought it was.
She was much shorter than I was; she couldn't have been but a bit over five foot. Her chestnut colored hair fell just about five inches below her shoulders. Her eyes were that of a brownish-greenish color and her smile was absolutely beautiful, almost surpassing Mikaela's. I could already tell by her smile that she was a very nice girl.
She had a little bit of a baby face but that still didn't help to constitute how beautiful she was. Had I seen her randomly walking down the streets I would most likely think she was a super model. She sure made me feel insecure about the way I looked though.
I gave her a warm smile. "Hi. Can I help you?" I greeted her.
"Hi. I'm Adalyn Hughes. I'm your new roommate since your other roommate transferred," she smiled.
So that was the school's cover up, how lovely. And the abnormality of my life continues. .
I gestured for her to come in and she did. I closed the door behind me and turned the light on. She sat her bags down by Lexy's old bed and turned to look at me, a curious look on her face.
"You're Azalea Lennox, aren't you?" she inquired.
I nodded and threw my hands up. "That's me. Why do you ask?"
She narrowed her eyes in concentration.
"Because I very vaguely remember seeing your face and some other boy's face on the news. It had something to do with some alien apocalyptic dilemma," she chuckled.
I pursed my lips and scratched the back of my head. Before I had the chance to respond, my dorm room door burst open and Sam ran in but stopped when he noticed Adalyn standing in front of me. I looked at her to see that she now had quite a startled expression on her face from Sam's abrupt entrance.
"Is this the other boy you're talking about?" I chuckled.
She smiled and nodded. "Sam Wilkicky, right?"
He let out a loud groan. "Everybody always gets my name wrong," he grumbled.
I laughed and answered for him. "It's Sam Witwicky actually. It's quite a mouthful. Don't feel bad," I told her.
Sam made a face and looked at her before looking back to me. "Wait. Who is this and how does she know who I am?" he asked curiously.
"She's my new roommate. Her name is Adalyn. And how does she know you? What was just airing on TV a little under a week ago?" I asked him.
He raised his brows at me, clearly confused by my words but soon enough his eyes perked up with realization and he face-palmed.
"Of course. That's probably how everyone knows me," he muttered.
I just rolled my eyes. "What do you want, Samuel?"
"Mikaela is at the airport and I have to go get her."
I scoffed. "With what car?" I asked.
"That's kind of what I came in here for. Can I borrow some money for cab fare?" he asked me with an innocent smile on his face.
"Do you not have money from graduation?" I asked him.
"I did," he mumbled.
I gave him a look before walking over to my dresser. I opened up the first drawer and took out my wallet which was full of money from graduation. Surprisingly I had managed to acquire about five thousand dollars and had forgotten about it until last night. Right now I had about two hundred in cash in my wallet while the rest of it was on my debit card.
After grabbing five twenties from my wallet I walked back over to Sam and shoved the money into his hand. He looked astonished by the amount I had given him but didn't say much about it.
"I don't know how far the airport is from here, but if you have any left over you can take her to lunch. My treat, of course," I chirped.
He just smiled and shook his head at me.
"Thank you so much. Love you," he exclaimed as he kissed my cheek. I laughed and pushed him over towards the door.
"Bye Adalyn. It was nice to meet you," he called as I shoved him out of my room.
She just laughed as I shut the door in his face. I walked over to sit down in one of the bean bags and she began unpacking her bags.
"Do you need any help unpacking?" I asked her.
"Sure," she exclaimed as she threw a shirt into her dresser. I got up and walked over, taking the clothes out of her suitcase and placing them neatly into her drawers.
"So is he your boyfriend?" Adalyn asked me.
I made a face. "Ew. Gross. No. He's like a brother to me," I told her.
She snickered. "Sorry. Well, do you have a boyfriend?"
I frowned and placed another article of clothing into her dresser. "I do," I croaked.
She stopped when she noticed the fault in my tone. "What's wrong?" she asked me.
I smiled at her and wiped my eyes.
"We can get to know each other once we're finished with this. You remind me of someone I used to know so I believe that I can trust you with the minor details," I chuckled.
She smiled at me. "Okay. That sounds good."
I smiled back at her and continued on putting her clothes away. It had only been a few minutes but I could already that the two of us were going to be great friends. She reminded me of Braelynn in some ways, much like Lexy had at first but personally I didn't believe she was a Decepticon.
I found it rather strange though how Brae seemed to know everything that was going to happen in my life or already had happened. She even knew I had a new roommate before I even woke up to answer the door. Because of what she had told me in my dream earlier, it seemed to me that Adalyn was actually going to become the "Braelynn" in my life. And though no one in the world could ever replace my dear best friend, Adalyn was going to have a good effect on my life just like Braelynn did and I did not mind it at all. It was about time something good happened in my life.
