Mirai was still stuck inside her house for the day and her father didn't come home from work either too. Usually around this time of year, lots of people spend their vacations in casinos and employees also take days off. Because of this, it makes sense why her dad has to work double shifts.
The girl took the time to make simple peanut butter and jelly sandwiches since that was the only thing she could make that was suitable for lunch. The two set out the table, said their grace, and ate.
