Chapter 6: Puke Girl
Watching the movie with Jash and chatting about his love life had helped me rediscover some aspects of myself. I used to spend all of my time either on my parents' business or on Rushil.
Rushil never held a long and proper conversation with me nor did he show interest in anything I had to say. The last full conversation we had about us was in the elevators more than a month ago when we completely ended the relationship.
During our adventure the following day, I tried to remember the last time Rushil and I were together and on a date.
Six months ago?
The day I had bought my own car with my own money.
It was a week before our breakup, and he asked me to go bowling with him. While not the best bowler, I had enjoyed spending time with him, seeing him exclaim a "yes" when he had a strike or seeing him laugh at my third gutter-ball in a row.
I doubted he even noticed how pleased I had been that day. He hadn't once asked why I kept flinging my keychain around.
Jash had noticed my first laugh on this trip in a few days or lack thereof. Saloni was only profiting if she were to date him.
I decided to make my next move at setting them up during our train ride from Shimla to Kalka in the Shivalik Super Deluxe Express. The only problem was that the group that went clubbing last night had terrible hangovers.
"Can't we postpone our tickets?" Eric had asked before we got ready.
"We won't get the next train till two days later and that throws us off schedule," Saloni had explained.
We didn't have much of a choice.
The ride was only five hours long and filled with a stunning view which was why no one objected any further.
Jash and I were in full health when we boarded the train while our friends were sprawled over their seats with green faces. Rushil and the twins had thrown up twice. Eric and Saloni only once.
So much for Jash and Saloni sitting together.
I went to the open doorway to record the view of the flora and the fauna with my iPhone. It was ten in the morning but the clouds had traveled our way giving the nature a foggy look.
I wished with all my heart I could step off the train, sit on the tracks, and enjoy the mountains and the city of Shimla.
"Hey guys, you don't want to miss this," I announced over my shoulder.
A few groans later, Saloni was the only person to come forward to check out the view. Jash was busy recording the scenery in the doorway behind.
Emma and Chynna asked me to record everything for them. They weren't in the right state to move around without feeling nauseous or dizzy.
Rushil was even shivering in his black fur coat. I wanted to offer him a warm hug but after ditching me last night, he deserved it. He snuggled closer to Eric.
Saloni returned to her own seat and rubbed her hands together.
"We should've stopped for a cup of chai before boarding," Jash said as he joined my side. He was watching Saloni with pity. I knew how he was feeling watching her tremble in the cold like that.
"Go hug her. She'll be warm," I whispered to him.
He scowled at me. "Why me?"
I nudged him. "It's the perfect chance for you to get close to her!"
