Chapter 14: Fiza

Saloni ran out of the restaurant white faced after hearing Rushil's confession.

The twins and Jash looked anything but shocked. Eric, Saloni, and I must've been the only people oblivious to this drama.

I didn't understand the feeling I felt in my heart. I breathed in and out as I stared at Rushil who threw daggers at Jash with his eyes.

I tried to undo the knot that had my arm tied to Jash. My left hand struggled due to its incompetence.

"Time to go home," said Emma.

She tried to reach for the wine bottle but Rushil beat her to it. He turned the bottle to face Jash.

"He hasn't had a turn, yet," Rushil said, his eyes flashing.

"Game's over," Eric said quietly.

"Not yet," Rushil said shaking his head. "Jash, why don't you enlighten us too? Tell us about your love life. Who you've been in love with since sophomore year in high school."

"This is so unnecessary," Chynna said.

"Jash, tell us," Rushil stated viciously. "You and I had a talk in high school, remember? You denied it then. Are you going to deny it again?"

While trying to undo Eric's tight knot, I stopped hearing those words.

What did Jash deny?

I slowly looked at Jash as I saw lightning flash in the window behind him. Rain pelted against windows and people ran for cover under canopies.

The two men were having a staring war not giving a damn about how uncomfortable they were making the rest of us.

"Jash, who is it?" I asked this time.

Jash's shot Rushil a hard look before turning to face me.

"You," he said.

I searched his face waiting for a correction, but nothing else came.

When his apologetic eyes met mine, I backed away. I wanted to scream at the knot I couldn't loosen.

Jash reached over and undid it the knot within ten seconds. I didn't have to wonder why he waited so long to help me untie it.

I spent the vast majority of the trip trying to hook him up with Saloni. All this time . . . Lies!

Chynna, Emma, and Eric stared at Jash and then Rushil as if they had witnessed the most dramatic scene of their lives. Our lives were no less than one of Eric's Kdramas.

I grabbed my purse and left the restaurant in the pouring rain.

I took rendezvous in our hotel's side garden that had a beautiful off-white wooden gazebo. I took a seat on the matching wooden bench inside and waited there. I wrapped my dupatta around me as the cold swallowed the night.

I must've sat there for hours listening to songs belonging to all decades on my phone. My mind had too much information to absorb.

Saloni texted me she wanted some time alone. She was in our hotel room, so no one had to worry about her. I passed the text to Eric along with how I wanted to be left alone too. Eric should pass the messages to the rest of them. He was the only I had no problem with.
