Author's note: merry Christmas Eve Eve to all who celebrate even though it doesn't feel like it. This one is inspired by an on the outside Christmas song. If you know you know ;)

*December 13th, 2019*

Gina Porter was at home alone trying to decorate her family Christmas tree when the incident had happened, since her mom was working overtime.

Meanwhile, Nini and Ricky were at a late night showing of The Polar Express at the Utah Regal Theatres when it had happened. Big Red and Ashlyn were cuddling in his basement when it had happened. Seb and Carlos were on a romantic dinner date when it had happened. And E.J Caswell was at home trying to make new tiktoks to impress his followers when it had happened.

No one saw it coming and no one knew that Gina was home alone. It was probably the worst night of Gina Porter's life.

*A Few Hours Before The Incident*

Gina's POV:

"Hey mom, sorry to interrupt you during your lunch break. I was wondering where you put the Christmas decorations and the ornaments for the tree? I want to get a head start at decorating since you'll be working a lot this month and won't have time to. I want our house to look as festive as possible. I also have nothing better to do." I said through the phone while staring at our plain Christmas tree.

"There's two red boxes in the kitchen storage cabinet. Be careful, sweetie. I'm sorry, I can't be there to decorate with you, but someone has to pay the bills. I got to finish eating my lunch. Bye. Remember I love you so much." my mom said as she blew kisses at her phone in her office.

As soon as she hung up, I went to find those boxes. Our storage cabinet was fairly small, so the red boxes weren't hard to find. I pulled out the first box that had our wreath and garlands in it and admire how they glittered. Then I opened the box with my mom and I's sentimental ornaments and started to look through all of the good memories we had in other states.

As I looked through the ornament box, I remembered all of the good times and the bad ones that my mom and I had made all across the country. Wrapped in some tissue paper I found  a cactus ornament in honor of our very short stay in Texas when she got relocated when I was 7. I also found the ballet slipper ornament that my mom gave me when I was four because I just started to take dance classes. Everything was so sentimental to me since it was just my mom and I now. My dad is out of the picture.

While I was sorting through the ornament box, I didn't realize that fresh tears were rolling down my cheeks. How embarrassing? I'm sitting on the floor in the kitchen crying to myself about old family memories.

Instead of sitting there alone crying, I decided to get up off of the uncomfortable kitchen floor and move the boxes to the living room so that I could start decorating the tree.

After I finished putting on all of the ornaments onto the tree, I realized that I was too short to put the star up and decided to look in the garage for my moms' old ladder so that I could finish decorating it.

E.J's POV:

I sat on my bed scrolling through Tiktok looking for an easy dance to do so that I could boost my followers and viewers on social media when I saw Gina's new post. She was doing some sort of complex dance in her bedroom or something like that.
