I've never realized how much Abi's touch can be enough to brighten up my world.
When she arrived at my house, it was as if she had been sent by heaven to comfort me. From the moment I saw her, I knew she was sent for me.
On that night, we had a lot of fun. We called in for pizza, saw a movie, and rested our hearts from all our worries.
Abi was right about one thing though. If I wanted to feel my boy move more, then I had to sleep by her side at night.
We were finally ready to end the day and we both smiled as I wrapped my arm around her soft body. Everything was quiet among the darkness until my hand felt her belly suddenly come to life.
Abi did a soft chuckle. "The show is starting."
I put a kiss on her head as I moved my hand on her belly. He kicked and kicked. It was exciting. The way his movements were so strong and coordinated. There was one movement that sent a scoff out of me.
"That was a punch," Abi softly said. "I think he knows you're hugging me. He seems excited."
"This is so awesome," I whispered. I continued on rubbing her belly and I could feel her contented sigh on my chest. I wish I can feel her back on my chest every night.
Yet, I was surprised that this little man did not lower it down on the amount of kicks that he gave us. I fell asleep for a few minutes and then woke up with the feeling of Abi's moving belly. I heard her yawn and I softly said to her, "Baby? Are you still awake?"
"Mhmm.." I could see her eyes tiredly close but I knew she was still awake. "I'm not used to having a little person do back flips inside of me all night." And she was right, I could feel his strong kicks up to the point where I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore.
The next morning, I woke up on my back and turned my head to see Abi sound asleep. My bed sheets formed her pretty curves along with the shape of her pregnant belly. I smiled at the sight. Her chest moved with a breath that usually shows that she is in a deep sleep. I felt bad for her. I wondered how long she must've been awake.
So I give her cheek a kiss that she doesn't feel at all, and put a hand on her belly. It was still and I suddenly missed his strong movements. But then the small rumble in my stomach reminded me that I must take on the job I was destined to do.
I quietly got up and made my way to the kitchen. My mind focused on making the best breakfast for Abi. Every stroke of a whisk inside of a bowl or a flip with the spatula, I put in extra love knowing that whatever Abi eats, my son will, too
The smells of my breakfast deliciously started to fill the house and my heart flew with the smells. A short while later, I looked up from my preparation of a fruit salad to see Abi walking in. Her smile was wide as she observed the scene.
"That smells delicious, chef!"
My heart melted at those words and I gave her a small wink. "Hungry?"
"Very," she said playfully. She came over to where I was at the stove and put a soft kiss on my lips. When she pulled away, she looked around with a smile and said, "Do you need any help?"
"Nope," I quickly said to her. "You go right ahead and sit down. I'll be there with your plate in a few minutes."
"Awh come on, chef! Let me help. That way I can pop a few bites in until I get to the big plate." She gave me a teasing smile and popped a grape in her mouth.
I turned to her and gave her lips another kiss. My hand then went to her belly. He was wide awake as I immediately felt those strong movements. "Don't worry, honey. I'm the chef here. I got it."
