I try to deny that it felt good to actually talk to him without avoiding him. God. Does he really make me melt.
I tried telling my sister about it, but she just nodded and laid her head on the table. In less than a minute, she was sound asleep. I have to say that our jobs aren't that different. We both attend to those that demand, except hers is between life or death.
But during the past few weeks, I couldn't help but smile up at my ceiling whenever I'd get in bed at the end of the day. Cam told me about the question he asked him and I immediately ignored his usual flirts as my mind drifted off to Blake. I looked at Blake from afar as he professionally talked with one of the customers. I couldn't help but hide a blush. I thought I'd find myself angry that he asked Cam such a stupid question, but my heart flew.
I try to avoid him still but it seems as if even when we are busy, we keep bumping into each other. I'd smile at him and try to run away, but he'd take my arm and ask for a favor. I've noticed that his favors aren't that important as he tries to get to talk to me.
Sometimes I find him late at night once everyone is gone, raising the sleeves of his buttoned shirt and start washing the dishes by himself. Or I'd find him in the kitchen; creating some sort of new plate. I never reveal myself to him. I just watch him from afar and enjoy the every aspect of him. The way his muscles form on his tight shirt and the way his gentle expression can make my heart melt. His dark hair always so neat and well combed with it's wavy curls. I really miss him. Every single part of him...
But today, we are not paying much attention to each other as we get ready for our very first cruise dinner. The hotel next door have a few special guests from Spain that decided to have their party on a cruise. Now we will be mixed with the waiters from the hotel and our employees.
I stand tall among the group of coworkers in the lobby. Some cargo carriers have already transferred all of our materials and chefs on the cruise, and we are the last ones to go on. Ryan and Blake quietly talk to one side until Ryan looks at us, and they both stand firm in front of us.
"Well. You have all done an excellent job since I've gotten here. But I need your very best tonight. We have a bus waiting outside to get us to the dock and get on the cruise. I don't want to see any competition going on with the waiters from the hotel." Ryan gives us all a firm look when he says this. "I'll remind you that they are much better at understanding these kind of people so if you need it, ask for help."
Blake steps up this time and firmly says, "Our number one goal is to make the customer happy. I don't care if you have to throw yourself off the boat to make them laugh or even do push ups in the middle of their dinner."
"I'm down to that," Cam whispers next to me.
I do a quiet chuckle and watch as Blake gives us that gentle smile of his. "Let's show them what we're made of. Help each other out. Let's make this night memorable not only for them, but for ourselves as well."
"Woo!" Cam says teasingly and starts to clap. People around him start to laugh and follow along with his silly claps. I laugh at this and my heart skips a beat when I see Blake shake his head with a smile.
"Alright," Ryan says. "Let's start towards the back to get to the bus."
We all obey and I can tell that everyone seems to have the same excitement running through their veins. Even my heart pumps with adrenaline as I start to get on the bus.
"How much you want to bet that I'll throw up if we go all the way to the end?!" Cam says as he stops midway in our path to look back at me. I playfully push him forward so he doesn't hold up the line and say, "Just get in, idiot." I giggle at the sound of his laughter.
