Cousins
Sumampa ako sa malaking bato at tahimik na pinanood ang papalubog na araw. Manghang-mangha akong pinagmasdan ang napakagandang kulay ng araw at ang ulap na nakapaligid dito pati na rin ang kumikintab na dagat sa malayo na nagkukulay orange.
I closed my eyes and felt the fresh air, at ngumiti sa kawalan. I can feel the afternoon wind breeze shivering me a little bit.
"Zouie? Are you okay? What are you doing here?" napalingon ako kay Snow. May bitbit siyang dalawang canned beer habang papalapit sa akin.
Nakikitang kong busy ang mga kasama namin sa pag-aarange nga mga gamit nila kasi papalubog na ang araw.
"I'm fine. Nagpapahangin lang ako," sagot ko.
She laughed then climbed up to the stone then sat beside me. "Are you kidding me? Kahit saan naman dito mahangin talaga," inabot niya sa akin ang isang beer. Tinanggap ko ito then mumbled thanks to her.
"Alright," I glanced at her then chuckled. "The sun's starting to go down and I want to watch it. Sunsets are always beautiful. Look, it's fascinating."
"Hmm," she nodded as she took a sip on her can then watched the setting sun. "Duncan's fine. Nagpapahinga siya sa loob ng tent." Bigla niyang sabi. Tumango lang ako.
Kanina ay alalang-alala kami ng sinabi niyang nahilo siya. Dahil iyon sa lakas ng pagkakatama ng bola sa kanyang ulo. Demi even suggested that we should brought him to the hospital right away but he resisted. Tumigil rin naman ang pagdurugo ng ilong niya kaya naibsan ang pag-alala namin.
Hindi na nagsalita pa si Shane pagkatapos ng nagyari. Humingi lang siya ng tawad kay Duncan dahil nadala lang daw siya sa laro. After that, he was silent all the time.
"By the way, what's with the watch?" Snow looked at me intently, her brows creased.
"Wala yon," umiwas ako ng tingin. "I was just amazed to see it in person. I've read that it's one of the most expensive watches in the world. So I was amazed that Duncan was one of those lucky people to own it."
"I don't think so. There must be something in that watch for you to act like you've caught someone cheating on yah," she said. Bumaling ako sa kanya at nanliit ang mga mata nitong nakatitig sa akin.
I chuckled. "Gosh Snow, you and your instincts."
"Hmm." umiling-iling siya. "You can fool the world but not me."
Saglit ko siyang tinitigan bago binaling ang tingin sa papalubog na araw. I took a deep breath then averted my gaze back to her. She just looked at me like she was waiting for me to spill the tea.
"Alright." I bit my lower lip, trying to find the right words to say. "I uh... right now, I'm so confused. A lot of things are bothering me now."
"It's Axl?" she asked immediately. Tumango ako. "Why? Does it have something to do with Duncan's watch?" She's starting to get the hang of it. I just nodded again.
I began to tell her all of my confusion. I saw Axl's watch on Duncan's bag though I was not sure if it was really his. I've read that there were only two wristwatches that had ever been auctioned. Axl might have gotten the other piece as well as Duncan. But still, it bothers me.
"Maybe, I should search who bought those two watches?" I asked her.
"Exactly! Okay, just a moment," wika niya bago tumingin sa likuran ko. "Hey Q! Can I ask you for a sec?"
