Camilla
~ 6 Months pregnant ~"I missed y'all so much!" I said, hugging my baby sister tight. "We missed you more." Celeste says. After finally letting go, I stepped aside to let my sister, nephew and her husband in. "Wow, Cam. The pictures you sent ain't got shit on the actual thing. The house is beautiful!" Celeste says. I smiled. "Aww, thank you Cece!" I said.
It was the weekend of my baby shower. My sister Celeste, my nephew, her husband, and my mother were all here from Jersey. Nya and her family were also here to support me. This was also the first time everybody was seeing the new house. I was so excited.
"Where's mommy?" I asked. "She's coming. We got into an argument at the airport. She was so mad at me that she didn't even wanna get into the same car as us. So she got an Uber." Celeste tells me. "Are you serious? Y'all let her take an Uber alone?" I said. "She ain't alone, chile." Celeste says. "What you mean?" I said, watching Cece take off my nephews jean jacket. "Camilla, you might wanna sit down for this one." Kaleb says. "Aw, shit. What's going on?" I pressed. Celeste looked me dead in the eyes. "Cam, Dad is here." She says.
"I'm sorry, what?" I said, blinking. "Dads in LA. He flew with us." Celeste tells me. "No, I heard you the first time. Why is he here? Did y'all know about this?" I said. I felt my heart drop down to my stomach. I had no words to describe how I was feeling as of right now. "Cam, I swear on everything I love we didn't find out until today. Mommy didn't say anything to me about it. We got to the airport and in walks this motherfucker." My sister tells me.
Celeste and I literally had no relationship with our father. The last time I spoke to him, I cursed him out for disrespecting our mother. That was at least 3 years ago. And now they were all buddy buddy? Unbelievable.
"Celeste, why didn't you text me as soon as you found out?" I asked. "Cam, I was going to call you. I swear to God. Mommy literally forced me not to say anything to you." Celeste tells me. I sighed loudly. "This might have ruined my weekend." I said. "I'm so sorry, Camilla." Celeste says. I wasn't sure if it was the hormones, but out of nowhere I started to tear up.
"Cam, please don't cry! I don't want this to ruin your baby shower this weekend." Celeste says, hugging me. Kaleb took KJ and sat on the other couch. "Why would she invite him? Knowing good and damn well I don't talk to that man." I said. "I didn't wanna say anything because this sounds crazy. But I think him and mommy maybe having an affair." My little sister tells me. "Wait, what?!" I said.
"What makes you say that?" I asked. I heard the front door open and I knew Jamari was home. "Babe, I'm home!" He yelled. "We're in the living room!" I responded. About 5 minutes later, my man walked in. Jamari kissed my forehead and then my lips. "Hey, baby. You remember my sister, Celeste." I said. "Yeah. Hey, how you doing?" He says. She smiled. "I'm good. How you doing?" Celeste says. "And her husband Kaleb. I'm not sure if you've ever met him." I said. They dapped each other up. That must be a man thing. "Nice to meet you, bro." Kaleb says. "Likewise."
"Y'all hungry? I can fire up the grill. Babe, I thought your mom was supposed to be coming, too." Jamari says. We were all out in the backyard, under the patio. I sighed and rubbed my growing belly. "I don't even wanna talk about her right now." I said. "Why, what happened? She not coming?" Jamari pressed. "Oh, she's coming. She just invited our father. We don't really mess with him like that." Celeste said. "Oh, shit. Are you serious?" Jamari says. I nodded my head. "And I knew nothing about it. Celeste said they all flew out together." I said. "And I was going to call Cam and tell her the minute I found out. Our mom literally threatened me not to say anything." Celeste says. "So, where they at if y'all all flew out together?" Jamari questions.
"I don't even know. Let me check her location." Celeste says, pulling out her phone. I pull out my phone as well. "Not her unsharing her location with me." My little sister says. I checked my texts between my mother and I and I noticed that she had stopped sharing her location with me as well. "That's crazy cause she stopped sharing her location with me, too." I said. "Chile, I can't." Celeste said.
My phone rang while we were still outside. "Speak of the devil." I said. I answered on the 3rd ring. "Hello?" I say. "Damn, finally. Why it took so long for you to answer the phone?I been standing outside your house for 10 minutes. Come open this door." My mother says. "Bye, mama." I said. I had no energy what so ever for her attitude. If anybody had the right to have an attitude, it should be me. I was the pregnant moody one.
"I'll get the door, babe" Jamari tells me. I smiled. "I appreciate it, baby." I said. I grabbed Celeste's hand and we walked inside. Kaleb scooped KJ up in his arms. My nephew laughed.
Celeste and I were in the kitchen, sipping lemonade. I heard my mothers loud ass voice echo although-out the house. "Jamari, hi!" My mother said. "Hi, Ms. Sherri. How you doing?" My man says. "I'm doing good! Where's Camilla?" My mom says. I walked out of the kitchen and Celeste followed.
"There you are, hey baby!" My mother says. I was trying so hard not to curse her ass out right then and there. "Hi, mama." I said, blandly. My mother hugged me. "Ohh, my baby! The house is beautiful. You're gonna have to give us a tour!" My mother says. "Us?" I said, pretending to not know who she was talking about. "Oh, good you don't know. I thought Celeste would've ran her big mouth by now." My mother says. I roll my eyes and say nothing. "I have a surprise for you."
About 10 minutes later, my father walks in. "Hi, Princess!" He says. "Surprise!" My mother said. "Why is he here? Mom, you know I haven't talked to him in 3 years. Why did you bring him here?" I said. "Baby, I'm sorry. I've changed." My father said.
My father was born and raised in The Philippines. He moved out here when he was a young child, maybe 8. Y'all know about the whole cheating situation. He's still married to the side bitch. They have like 3 kids. Anyway, I was in the bedroom brushing my 30 inch bundles. My mother and father were still here and I still couldn't believe it. She has yet to give me a legit reason as to why this man is here. "Babe, can I come in?" Jamari asked, after knocking. "Yeah, come in, baby." I said. Jamari walks in and smiles. "You okay?" He asked, sitting on our bed. I sighed deeply. "I'm fine. Just... aggravated." I said. "I understand. You want me to tell your parents to leave?" He says.
"No, baby. I don't want that to be your responsibility. I'll handle it." I said. Suddenly, I hear some yelling coming from downstairs. It sounded like my sister and my mother were going at it. "Lord have mercy!" I said, fixing my sundress. Jamari stood up and helped me up.
When I got downstairs, I saw my mother and sister in each other's faces. They were literally screaming at each other. Kaleb was holding Celeste by her waist, with all his strength might I add. Celeste was stronger than she looked. She was tiny but mighty.
"What the hell is going on down here?!?" I asked. "Your sister disrespected your father!" My mother says. Celeste rolled her eyes. "No. Camilla, I told him about himself. The truth isn't disrespect. He shouldn't be here. And you know that, mama." My sister says. I rubbed my stomach. "I don't even know what to say right now." I said. Jamari helped me sit down. "You should kick Celeste out. She needs to go stay at a hotel or something." My mother says. I looked at her like she was crazy. "Mommy, what?!" I said. My mother folded her arms. Celeste grabbed KJ from Kaleb. "You heard me. She tried to ruin your baby shower weekend." My mother continued. "If anybody tried to ruin Camilla's baby shower weekend, it's you! You brought this man across the country without even telling her. Knowing good and damn well her relationship with him is nonexistent. Once again you tried to make this weekend about you!" Celeste yelled. I couldn't even say anything because my baby sister was spitting nothing but facts.
"Camilla, are you really gonna let her talk to me that way?" My mother said. "Mom, she's right." I say. "Right about what?" "Everything. Mom, you know I have not talked to my father in 3 years. And for you to bring this man up in my house is selfish. I can't believe you would do this to me." I said, struggling to stand up. Jamari helped me. "Camilla, your sister has always been jealous of you." My mother tells me. Celeste laughed. "Jealous?!?" She said. "Mama, you sound crazy. Why are you trying to start unnecessary drama?" I said. "You know it's the truth. You know she's always been jealous of the fact that I've always loved you more." My mother says.
I was so shocked at what came out of my mothers mouth. How could a mother say that about her daughter? My mouth hung to the ground. I didn't have any words.
"Mama, how could you say that? About your youngest daughter?" I said. My mother smiled. It was at this very moment I realized that my mother was evil. "You've always been my favorite, Camilla. You wanna know why?" "Mama, I want you to leave." I said.
My mother wouldn't budge. She continued to stand in the middle of the living room with her arms folded. An evil smile on her face. "Celeste, Camilla. I think it's time to be honest now." My mother says. Celeste and I exchanged glances. What the fuck was going on right now? "Celeste, you are my least favorite child. BUT, only because you and your sister have two different fathers." She said.
"What?!" We both said in unison. "Yup. Kenneth is Camilla's father. He ain't your daddy." My mother said to Celeste. I was so confused. "So, who's Celeste's father?" I asked. My mother looked at me. "Your father's friend, Michael." She says.
