*December 2023*

"Hand me the star, babe." Justin says. I was about to hand him the star for our tree when Ava stopped me. "Mommy, I wanna give daddy the star!" She tells me. "Of course, baby. Be careful, okay?" I said, handing her the golden star.
It was a cold, snowy Saturday afternoon in December. Christmas was less than a week away but being a mother I finished my shopping weeks ago. I literally started shopping a month in advance. Anyway, Ava, Justin, and I were decorating our tree and listening to Christmas music. The baby was sound asleep in his swing.
I gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy on September 9th, 2023. We named him Elian Mateo Velez. Elian was his grandfathers name, my father who passed away from cancer when I was pregnant with Ava. My baby boy weighed 7 pounds and 3 ounces at birth. Elian was my rainbow baby.
"Look who's up!" I said, picking up my 3 month old. I loved having another baby in the house. It was a lot of work, don't get me wrong. But it was so worth it. I got to enjoy it all over again. My baby Ava was growing up way too fast. She was a 15 year old stuck in a 5 year old girls body. It was crazy.
Anyway, Ava had to help her daddy finish the tree because Elian needed to be breastfed. He was super fussy after his nap today. I didn't know what was going on. We were gonna figure it out, though.
"That's what was wrong with you, papa. You went poo." I said, getting ready to change my baby. I was now in the bedroom. About 10 minutes later, my husband comes walking in. "You put Ava to bed?" I asked him. He nodded his head. "I did." He tells me. I checked the time on my Apple Watch. "Wow, it's not even 10:00 yet." I said. Justin gently sits next to me in bed. "For real. Baby girl was tired!" He says. "Facts." I said. I finished changing Elian's diaper and wrapped it up tightly. "Babe, can you throw this in the diaper genie for me please?" I say. "Yeah, for sure." He said. "Thank you, my love." I said.

"Babe, we didn't come here to shop for the baby. We don't even know the sex yet!" Jamari says. I ignore my fiancé and continue down the baby isle. "That doesn't mean I can't prepare." I tell him. I hear him sigh. "Man, you really are something else." He says.
Jamari and I decided to get some last minute Christmas shopping done. We were currently at Target. The baby wasn't going to be born until May of next year. I was only 4 months pregnant but I was starting to get a little belly. Jamari and I were going to find out the gender next month. He wanted a boy so bad.
Somehow, I found myself in the ice cream isle. I've been craving some cookie dough ice cream for the past week or so. As I was scanning the isles, something told me to turn to my left. When I did, I saw Damian.
Y'all remember Damian? I met him 3 years ago at a club. We talked for a good month and then he went ghost. Then, I ran into him a few months later and he told me he had a girlfriend and I went off on him for going ghost. Yeah, him.
"Camilla, is that you?" He says. I cursed under my breath. "Damian, hi!" I said. He made his way over to my shopping cart. "Long time no see! How are you?" He says. "I'm doing good! How are you?" I said, returning the question. "That's wassup! It's good to see you. You look good." He tells me. "Oh, thank you." I say. "Are you here alone?" Damian asked. "Actually no, I'm here with my fiancé." I say proudly.
"Oh you're engaged?" Damian questions. I nodded my head. "I am. I'm also expecting a baby." I said. I just had to throw that in there for a little razzle dazzle. "Congratulations, I could tell." He says. I just stare at him. No he didn't. Chile, where is my man? I'm ready to go. "Anyway, what have you been up to?" I said. "Oh, I actually have a baby on the way as well." He tells me. "Oh, congratulations to you, too! That's really a blessing." I said.
"Nya, bitch guess who I ran into at Target!" I said. I sat back in my recliner. "Who?" She pressed. "Damian!" I say. "No fucking way! Are you serious?" Nya said. "I'm deadass. He came up to me and everything." I say. "The fucking nerve." My best friend says.

Celeste

"KJ, you were such a good boy today. Mommy is so proud of you!" I said, tying my toddlers shoe. He laughed and clapped his hands. My baby boy was growing way too fast. I couldn't take it!
Kaleb and I took KJ to the mall to see Santa and we also needed to do some shopping. I was so nervous because I thought KJ was going to act up. Surprisingly, though, he was so good. He was cooperative and full of giggles. I was overthinking things, like always.
Anyway, we were leaving the mall when I spotted an old friend. My ex best friend, Arianna. "Babe, what's wrong?" Kaleb asked. I sighed and took KJ out of his stroller. "Nothing. I thought I just saw Arianna." I said. "And you did!" The familiar voice said from behind me. I put on a fake smile.
I told y'all why Arianna and I stopped talking, right? We were best friends since elementary school, I believe. I don't know what changed but the minute I told her I was pregnant, she started acting funny and then she eventually ended up going ghost on a bitch. No explanation as to why, either.
"Hi, Arianna." I said. "Hey, Kaleb!" She says, completely ignoring my presence. No this bitch didn't. I roll my eyes and put KJ in his car seat. "Celeste, it's been so long since I've seen you. You gained some weight." Arianna said. I laughed. She was so lucky I knew Jesus. "Sweetheart, I had a baby. What's your excuse?" I fired back. She knew better than to try me.
"I just wanted to come over here and see your son. I wanted to make sure he looked like Kaleb." Arianna laughed. "I'm sorry shouldn't you be somewhere fucking somebody else's man?" I said. I didn't wanna go there but she had it coming. "Bitch, you must be talking about yourself." She says. "Aye, what we not gon do is be disrespecting my wife now." Kaleb butted in. Arianna laughed. "Wife? Now you calling her your wife?" She says. "Yeah, that's what happens when you get married. Go find somebody else to play with. Get in the car, babe. We out." My man says.
I was so turned on when Kaleb defended me. The whole way home, I was thinking about what I was gonna do to him once we put KJ to bed. It made no sense. Kaleb has always been known for being quiet, calm and laid back. Seeing him get loud with Arianna definitely had me shook. I mean I knew he had it in him. My baby wasn't no punk nigga.
