"Ny, how do I look?" I asked. My best friend stopped applying her lashes before looking at me. "Girl, like a full course meal!" She says. I laughed and then began curling my 30 inch bundles. "You crazy!" I said to her.
Nya and I were getting ready for a girls night out. Our favorite club was having a free Valentine's Day event. So, we were definitely going to be there for that. Damian and I haven't talked in a little over a month. I don't know what happened. To my knowledge, things were going great between us. We were vibing. So I thought. Then, out of the blue, he just stopped calling and texting."You good?" Nya says, breaking me out of my own thoughts. "Yeah, I'm fine." I said. "Well, you almost hit that poor girl. Are you sure you're okay?" My best friend said. She seemed concerned. "Girl, I'm good! I promise. I just zoned out a little bit." I tell her.
"Hi, beautiful. Can I buy you a drink?" This tall glass of chocolate milk says. He was fine but also pushing up on me way too hard. The nigga was damn near in my lap. I smiled sweetly. "I'm sorry but I don't drink." I said. "You sure I can't change your mind?" He asked. "I'm positive." I tell him. "Aw, come on! Just one drink, gorgeous." He says. "Nigga, she said no. Bye!" Nya butted in. The guy sucked just teeth, mumbled something under his breath, and walked away. "Thank you!" I said to her.
The night was coming to an end and surprisingly, neither one of us were drunk. Nya decided that she wanted to be the one to drive home, though. As we were walking to the car I heard a familiar laugh. It sounded like Damian. I turned my head to see him all hugged up with some girl. The two of them looked like they knew each other pretty well.
"Camilla, come on! My feet hurt and I'm tired." Nya says, beeping the horn. I snapped out of it and ran to the passenger seat. "Camilla, is that you?" Damian says, running up to the car. This nigga had some nerve coming to speak to me. The bald headed nerve at that.
"Oh, Damian hi! Were you at the Valentine's Day event?" I said, trying to be nonchalant. "Actually, yeah I was. You were there, too I assume." He says. This nigga was definitely lying but whatever. "I was. Nya and I went together." I said. "Oh, that's wassup. You look good." He tells me. "Thank you!" I said. There was an awkward silence. "So, did you come alone or..." Yes I was all up in his business. I wanted all the tea. Shit, maybe he could give me an explanation as to why he went ghost on me the way he did. "Actually I came out with my girlfriend." Damian says. Girlfriend?!? The fucking audacity of this raggedy ass nigga. "Oh, okay. Now I see why you went ghost on me. Cool." I said. I didn't know why, but my blood pressure was up and I was ready to go. "Wait, Camilla it wasn't like that." He pleads. "It was like that, Damian. You and I were fucking with each other less than a month ago and now all of a sudden you have a girlfriend. Clearly you been fucking with her all this time." I say. As I'm trying to get in the car, Damian pulls my arm. "Don't touch me!" I shouted.
"See, I knew something wasn't right about his ass. I hate niggas, bro!" Nya says to me the next day. I sigh and put my phone on Do Not Disturb. "For real. I should've known, though. It was too good to be true." I said. "What you mean by that?" Nya asked. "A nigga that fine always comes with some type of baggage. Whether it be multiple baby mamas, an STD, a criminal record, or all of the above." I joked, trying to make light of the situation. Both Nya and I laugh. "Yo, you're dumb!" She tells me.
Nya and I were on our way to this taco place not too far from our crib. It was hot as hell outside, so I had on a white tank top, shorts, and some slides. I didn't even bother doing anything to my hair so it was up in a bun today. Too hot for hair.
As soon as we got back to the crib, my phone rang. My precious baby sister Celeste wanted to FaceTime. I answered on the second ring and almost cried tears of joy. "Look at your little belly, hi mama!" I said. Celeste smiled at me. She was standing up and you could see she was starting to show.
My baby sister was 5 months pregnant and glowing. This was bittersweet for me because I never thought Celeste would be having a baby before me. Also, it sucked only being able to see her through FaceTime. My sister was growing a child and I was clear across the country. I missed my family.
"So, when do y'all find out the gender? Or do you wanna have a gender reveal?" I wanted to know. Celeste sighed and rolled her eyes. "I definitely don't wanna have a gender reveal. Mommy wants me to have one so bad though." Celeste says. I laughed. "Why don't you wanna have a gender reveal?" I asked. "Me personally, I feel like gender reveals are mad corny." Celeste says to me. "Understandable. Does Kaleb wanna have one?" I said. "You know him. He's so chill and nonchalant with everything." My sister explains to me. "So he's just going with the flow?" I say. "I mean he doesn't really care. He just wants me to be happy." Celeste says to me. "As he should." I said.
