"Mom, Ava hid my ps4 controller!" Elian yelled. I sighed. "No I didn't! You just not looking hard enough for it." Ava shouted back. "Can y'all not? I'm cooking!" I said.
It was Thanksgiving day and I had been cooking all morning. Justin was out, running errands for me. These kids were driving me insane! They were my babies, but they were arguing nonstop. I wasn't sure what got into them.
Anyway, we were having people over for thanksgiving dinner. This was extremely special for Justin and I because we just moved into our new home. Our first Thanksgiving in the new house and we were so excited to have our loved ones over. However, I had been stressed out all day because of it.
"Babe, I'm back! Where you at?" Justin yells from the front door. "In the kitchen, slaving over this hot stove." I said. About 5 minutes later, my husband pops his head in. "Hey, baby. You good? You need help with anything?" He says. I wipe the sweat from my forehead with a towel and take a sip of water. "I'm just about done cooking. I've been up since 6am cooking and it's now 1PM." I said, checking my Apple Watch. "Okay. What time is everybody supposed to be coming over?" Justin says. "Dinner is at 5. But I told everybody to be here for 4:30." I said. "Oh okay. Cool. Where's Ava and Elian?" I sighed. "Driving me crazy! They been screaming at each other all day!" I tell my man.
Ava was now 17 years old and Elian was 11. My babies grew overnight. It was so crazy watching these two grow up. Ava was driving now. She was literally one of the smartest girls I knew and no I wasn't saying that just because. Elian was such a little mamas boy. He did not like people messing with his mama.
"Girl, you look good! You finally dropped the baby weight." My cousin, Mia says. My sister Genesis and I exchanged glances. Girl, I was stuck! "Excuse me?" I said, tryna see if she was being deadass.
My cousin Mia and I always had a love/hate relationship. Well, more of a hate/hate relationship if anything. We were the same age and we were actually close at one point. Until we got to high school and she started acting like she was better than me and Genesis. She really had no reason to be acting the way she was. I was confused.
"I'm just saying! I know how hard it must've been tryna lose all the fat." Mia continues. This girl must've already been drunk chile. I laughed because I was about to really violate this bitch. "Baby, my kids are 17 and 11 years old. I been lost the baby weight. Try again." I said. She really tried to embarrass me in my own damn house. The nerve!
Once dinner was finally ready, I immediately regretted hosting dinner at my house. The only reason why some family members (I haven't seen in years, mind you) wanted to even come was so they could be nosy. They heard I moved into a new home and  wanted to be all up in my business. When I say never again, I mean it!

Celeste

"Who made the mac and cheese?" I asked. My sister, Elle raised her hand. "That would be me!" She says. "You're lying. It's so good!" I tell her. The biggest smile spread across her mouth.
Kaleb and I decided to host thanksgiving at our house this year. It was all Kaleb's idea, if I'm being honest. Which is surprising because my husband did not like other humans, nor did he like a whole bunch of niggas in his house. He was getting better, so I was fine with that.
My relationship with Elle and Aria improved so much over the years! We were at a point where we could finally be in the same room together. I was so proud of us. We even did Sunday brunches, too!
"Baby, can you do me a favor please?" I say, wrapping my arms around my husband. I found Kaleb in his man cave with a bunch of his cousins and friends from childhood. They were watching the game. "You know I'd do anything for you." Kaleb tells me, his eyes still glued to the television. "Aw, that's so sweet baby!" I said. "What you need, though?" My husband asked.
"Really, babe? This what you needed me for?" Kaleb says. I nodded my head. "You said you would do anything for me!" I said. My husband sighed and shook his head. I watched while my man killed the bug over top the fridge. "You lucky I love you, yo." Kaleb says to me. I smiled at him.

Ava

"So what's his name?" My dad pressed. I covered my face, clearly embarrassed. "Daddy, please be nice!" I begged. My father sucked his teeth. "Fuck all that. What's this little motherfuckers name?" "Justin, enough! Leave her alone." My mother shouted from the kitchen.
It was a Saturday night. I was getting ready for my first date ever! With the kind of father I have, I'm surprised this is even happening. My dad was super overprotective. Meanwhile, my mother was protective but not OD like my dad.
Anyway, his name was Jaylen Ramirez. He asked me to see a drive in movie. To me, he was the cutest boy in school. My friends thought he was kinda nerdy, but I loved it. Jaylen was on the basketball and football team, but he wasn't like all the other athletes in our school. He was quiet, smart, funny, and such a gentleman.
My heart dropped when I heard the doorbell ring. "That's him?" My father asked. "Justin, knock it off!" My mother said. I took one last look at myself in the mirror. I think I looked pretty cute. My hair was put together in a slicked bun. I was dressed in a pink crop top that tied in front, a pair of mom jeans, and a brand new pair of Air Forces.
When I got downstairs, I saw my dad talking to Jaylen. My chest became hot because I knew how my dad was. I didn't want him to scare Jaylen away. He just does way too much sometimes.
"There she is!" My father says, making my presence known. My cheeks turned bright red once Jaylen and I made eye contact. The biggest smile spread across his face. "You look beautiful, Avie." Jaylen tells me. I smiled. "Thank you!" I said.
"You okay? You need anything? More popcorn?" Jaylen says, finishing a bottle of water. I smiled for the hundredth time tonight. My cheeks were so sore from all the grinning I had been doing. "I'd like a refill. If you don't mind." I say, handing him my empty cup. The car light turned on as he opened the driver door. "As you wish, my lady! I'll be back." He says, winking at me. I giggled. "I'll be here!" I tell him.
The night was going amazing. I was definitely overthinking this entire thing. I thought that I was going to embarrass myself but it was the exact opposite. Jaylen didn't make me feel nervous. He actually made me feel confident. The whole night we were talking and he knew how to keep me cracking up. It was such great vibes.
