"This is what you wanna do? You're 100% sure?" Kaleb asked. I took a deep breath while I focused on throwing mushrooms into the pan. "Yes. I'm sure." I said, also trying to convince myself that everything was going to be fine. "Okay, babe. But I'm telling you, the minute she get disrespectful, she's out. Aight?" My husband says. I nodded my head. "I know." I said.
I was in my kitchen, chefing it up for today's brunch. I was nervous more than anything. But I was also happy that my mother and I were going to at least try to fix our relationship. I understood why Kaleb was on edge about the entire situation. I mean, if I were him, I'd be too. He was just looking out for me.
"I don't mean to sound controlling or nothing. And I know, that's ya mom. I just want you to be sure that this is what you want, aight?" Kaleb tells me. "I know, baby." I said. "But whatever you decide to do, I'll support you no matter what. You know that." He tells me. I smiled. "I know. Thank you, babe." I said. My man smiled at me, showing his perfect teeth.
Since I was feeling a little uneasy about the idea of seeing my mom again, I asked Camilla to come and bring Leiani. Thankfully, she agreed to come. I wasn't sure if my mother was being genuine last night, but it didn't hurt to give her a second chance. Right?
"Hey, sissy!" I say, greeting my big sister with a warm hug. I missed her so much. "Hey! Lei Lei has something to show you." Camilla says, letting go of my 4 year old nieces hand. I look down at her. "What do you have to show to Titi?" I asked her. She smiled, missing only about 2 teeth. I gasped. "You lost a tooth?" I said. She nodded and giggled. "Yup! Mommy said the tooth fairy's coming to give me money!" Leiani tells me. I bent down and hugged my niece. I loved her so much. "You know what this means right?" I said. "No, what Titi?" "You're a big girl now! You growing up." I tell her.
My mother showed up to brunch a half hour late. I told her brunch was at 12 and she showed up at 12:30. Not to mention she smelt like she took a bath in Jack Daniels. I tried my best not to complain because I was surprised that this was even happening. So, I ignored it.
"Cece, this house is amazing!" My mother says, slurring her words. This woman was drunk as all hell. Unbelievable. I smiled. "Thank you, mom." I said. I tried to ignore the fact that she called me Cece. Nobody's called me that since I was a child and for a good reason. I hated that nickname. The only person allowed to call me Cece these days was my niece. Brunch was going... okay I guess? It was uncomfortably awkward. I kept using Kaia as an excuse to get up from the table. Thank God for my children.
"Mom, are you sure you're good enough to drive?" Camilla asked. I watched in disbelief while my sister struggled to help our drunk mother off the living room floor. "Girl, I'm fine!" She hiccups. I roll my eyes and go check on my kids. The boys were in their room, playing a video game. Kaia has been on me all day long. My little baby.
My mother ended up getting a Lyft home. Camilla stayed afterwards to help us clean up. Kaia was sleeping peacefully on her daddies chest in the living room. "Are you okay?" Camilla asked me. I smiled. "Who shows up drunk to a brunch? A brunch?!?" I vented. "I know, I know. Ridiculous." My big sister says.
"So, I have something to tell you. I was gonna wait until a later time to tell you but I'm gonna tell you now." Camilla tells me. "You're pregnant?" I said. "How did you know?" She asked. I laughed. "Girl, I have 3 kids. Trust me, I always know. Plus, you're my sister. I know you better than you think I do." I explained. "I hate you!" She says, laughing. We laughed together.

"Mommy, I wanna go on this ride!" Blake tells me. "Okay, but you gotta wait for daddy. He's gonna go with you." I tell my son. "Yeah, little man. Hold up." Tyrell says. I pull Anais up on my hip so she doesn't slip. Ty and Blake run towards the roller coaster and I take a seat on the nearby bench.
Rell and I decided to take the kids on a vacation to Disney World. We drove instead of taking a plane. 17 hours, but it was worth it. We were staying in this beautiful resort. So far, we've only been here for 2 days. We were going to be here for a week. The kids were excited.
"I'm starving!" I said, looking at the menu in front of me. "Me too, mommy!" Blake says. I look at my son and giggle. "Do you know what you wanna eat?" I asked him. "Yeah! I think I want a cheeseburger and French fries." He tells me.
After an exciting day at the park, we came back to the hotel to shower and change. Now, we were all at a nice restaurant inside the resort. I was dressed in a beige sundress that stopped at the knees, and a pair of sandals. My hair was up in a bun. Whenever we went out as a family, I liked dressing us all up in the same color.
My phone rang as soon as I put the kids to sleep. We were all back in our hotel room. "Hello?" I said. "Ny, I know you're in Florida on vacation. But I need you to come home." My mother says, panicking. "What? Why, is everything okay?" I pressed. "No, it's Juju. He's in the hospital." She tells me. "Oh, my God! What happened?" I say. "That fucking bitch Kalani. She ran him over with her car!" My mother says.
