Camilla and her best friend, Nya move to California to start a new life. They leave their families behind and all they have now is each other. Camilla was an aspiring model and Nya was a self taught hairstylist. One day Camilla meets this handsome y...
"Hello?" I said into the phone. "Aye, man. You busy?" My homeboy, Marques says. I sighed while getting into my car. "Marques, I ain't got no money for you this week, man." I said. I started my car, put on my seatbelt, and pulled out of the parking lot. So, I'm Kaleb. I'm 26 years old and I'm originally from Camden, NJ. However, my mama moved us out to Elizabeth when I was mad young. Celeste is not only my wife, but she's also the love of my life, my best friend, the mother of my kids, my everything. I'll kill a nigga for her. That's my baby. Anyway, I was leaving the barbershop. I had just got a fresh cut. Today was a special day. On this exact day 10 years ago, I asked Celeste to be mine. I ain't even gon cap, before Celeste came into my life I was a dog. She changed me for the better. And for that, she'll always have my heart. "Man, why you always think Ima ask you for money?" Marques asked. "Cause you always ask me for money, Marques." I said, stopping at a red light. "That's not true. When's the last time I asked you for money?" He said. "Last week. The only time I hear from you is when you need money. You my boy and everything. I don't mind helping you from time to time, but you know I have bills , a wife, and 3 kids." I said. Hearing that come out of my own mouth felt good as shit. I smiled mad big. Marques was not only my coworker, but he was also one of the first niggas I met when we moved to LA. He was only a few years older than me. Marques was cool and everything, but he always made terrible life decisions. I wasn't the type of nigga to count favors, but this was ridiculous. Every time I turned around, this nigga needed some money. You would've thought he ain't have no job. "Oh, Celeste had the baby?" Marques asked. I was almost home. "Yeah, she did." I said. "That's wassup! Tell her I said congratulations." "I will. We appreciate it." I said. "But, I was calling to see if you could cashapp me $30." Marques says. I sighed because I knew that's what he was calling for. "Daddy's home!" I called out. About 10 minutes later, KJ comes running in my direction, his little brother right behind him. "Daddy!" The both of them say together. I crouch down and greet both of my boys with a long hug. My favorite part of the day is when I get to come home to my kids and my wife. The best feeling ever. To this day, I still couldn't believe how things turned out for us. We were living in this beautiful ass house out in LA, 3 amazing kids, married. I was working at this construction site, making bread. Celeste and I had every reason to be thankful. We were blessed. I found Celeste in our home office. Well, that was more her office than mine. I didn't use it, nor did I have a reason to use it. She was in her lounge clothes, still as beautiful as ever. She smiled when she saw me. "Hi, baby!" She says, making her way over to me. I wrapped my arms around her waist. "Hey, mama. How was your day?" I said, before giving her a kiss. "You know, same shit. Mom things." She tells me. "You killing this mom shit." I said to her. She flipped her hair and stuck her tongue out. "You stay gassing me!" She says.

I stare at the Tesla in disbelief. Kaleb always came through with the gifts. Each and every time, man. Couldn't nobody hold a candle to him in the gift department. He blew my mind. "What do you think?" Kaleb asked. "What do I think? I think I wanna give you another baby! Oh, my God." I said, holding back tears. Kaleb laughed while he threw me the keys. "This is my car?" I asked. "It's our car." My husband tells me. "Fair enough." I said. Kaleb was the best father, husband, friend. He was just overall an amazing person. The kids and I were lucky to have him. Sometimes I felt like I didn't deserve him. I don't know why, but that's how I felt. "Are you ready for your gift?" I asked. "I'm so ready." Kaleb tells me. I take the blindfold off of my husband and he's speechless. He stares at me in silence. "Are you deadass?" He says. I laugh at his facial expression. "Yeah!" I said. Kaleb and I got all dressed up for a romantic night in. Camilla agreed to watch the kids for us, so it was perfect. We had the house to ourselves. Unfortunately, it hasn't been 6 weeks so wasn't gonna be no sex tonight. I had to keep it PG for the next 4 weeks. I decorated our bedroom with red balloons, rose petals, and all of that. I also bought Kaleb a few designer gifts that he's had his eye on. Kaleb was really hard to shop for because he didn't like people buying things for him. Not even me. That's just how he was.

"Baby, you knew I been tryna get these for the longest. How did you get ya hands on them?" Kaleb asked, holding up the Dior sneakers. I smiled. "I remember you saying how bad you wanted them so the kids and I went to the mall yesterday. It was so hard tryna hide them from you because I was so excited." I said. Kaleb kissed me. "I love you, baby! Thank you." He tells me. "I love you, more. Open the next gift." I say.

"So, how did everything go with Kaleb last night?" Camilla asked. I sighed lightly. "Even though there was no sex, it was perfect!" I gushed. My big sister smiled. "That's so sweet. Y'all make me happy!" She says. The day after Kaleb and I's anniversary, Kaleb had to be at work early. I was home with Kaia while the boys were at school. KJ was in 2nd grade and Kaiden was in daycare. My babies were getting so big so fast. I couldn't take it. "Girl, Kaleb makes me happy! If he continues to make me this happy, you're gonna have 10 nieces and nephews." I tell my sister. She busted out laughing. "You're a hot mess!" She says. "I'm serious." I said. Camilla gives me a look. Anyway, Kaia was chilling in her boppy pillow next to me on the couch. I was on FaceTime with my big sister. I've been in the house my entire pregnancy and now that Kaia was here, I was still in the damn house. The only time I get to leave is when I take the boys to and from school. I was so bored! "Celeste, I need you to do my nails!" Camilla says. "I thought you said you were taking a break from acrylics." I said. "Yeah, I changed my mind. I can't do it no more. I miss my claws!" My big sister whined. I sighed. "When do you need your nails done?" I asked. I've been a self taught nail tech for a little over a year now. I worked strictly from home. My entire pregnancy, I had clients left and right. Kaleb was always worried because I never stopped working. I couldn't help it. "Hi, mommy!" KJ says, greeting me with a hug. I wrap my arms around him. "Hi, baby. How was school?" I said. "School was fun!" My son tells me. "That's good. You ate all of your lunch?" I said. My son nodded. I ran my fingers through his curly Mohawk. My baby was so handsome. Normally, I would be the one to pick up the boys from school. However, after I had Kaia, Kaleb has been getting off of work earlier than usual to get them. Kaiden and KJ loved spending time with their daddy. Safe to say that Kaiden and KJ were daddies boys. I was making dinner when my phone rang. Assuming it was Camilla calling, I answered without even checking the caller ID. "Hello?" I said. "Celeste?" Michael says. "Um, hi Michael. What's going on?" I say. I never gave Michael my phone number, so the fact that he was on my phone right now was beyond me. Every time this man did reach out to me, it was always through Facebook messenger. "Listen, I know it's been a while since the last time we've all had a conversation. But I was wondering, if you would be willing to give the twins another chance. They're really sorry and they just wanna meet the kids." Michael says. "Elle and Aria are both grown women. They're old enough to speak for themselves. So, I'm confused as to why you're calling me right now." I said. Elle and Aria both had my phone number. They even had me on social media. I was really having a hard time understanding why their father was in my phone making excuses for two grown ass women. They had nothing but time. This is the bullshit I be talking about. "Well, Elle gave me your number. They wanted me to call you because they felt like you were still holding a grudge about what happened last year." Michael explained. "Holding a grudge? Michael, they called my mother a whore! And they never even apologized." I fumed. I had to keep my voice down because the baby was asleep. "I know and I apologize on their behalf. But can we please just all meet up for dinner?" My father says. I scoffed. "Michael, I literally just had a baby 2 weeks ago. And with all due respect, I'm not going anywhere." I said. Before Michael got a chance to say anything else, I hung up. The fucking nerve.
