Looking around, I knew there was something very wrong. The street I was on looked unfinished and had very few cars on it. The cars that were around looked like the taxi that had all looked like the taxi that had almost hit me. The whole place had a old fashion feel to it. Glancing back at Steve, I noticed he was also dressed in an old fashion way. He has on dark brown trousers, a white shirt with a tie and a light beige jacket.

All the women around were dressed in skirts and dressed that were a lot longer than my white sundress that was mid-thigh in length and none of them had cowboy boots or long cardigans on

All the women around were dressed in skirts and dressed that were a lot longer than my white sundress that was mid-thigh in length and none of them had cowboy boots or long cardigans on. Either I had hit my head a lot harder than I thought when I fell or that cube took me somewhere.

Thinking about that glowing blue cube made me remember what had happened to my father. He was dead, killed by some Nazi lunatic and all he was trying to do was protect his family. Were the rest of my family alright, I had I got that man away from them before something happened to them. I started hyperventilating at the very thought of all my family being dead, all because I wasn't strong enough to protect them. I could feel the tears start to fall down my face as the feeling of dread settled in. I stumbled back on the heels of my boots, my back hitting the wall behind me as I slid back down on to the ground. It was then I felt a warm hand on shoulder.

I turned around to see Steve smiling down at me. He wasn't very tall, standing around 5'4 so he didn't have to bend down far to reach me. I don't know why, but I felt safe around him. There was a kindness in his eyes that you don't see in many people. "Are you really ok Miss Odinson? You seem a little lost, is there anything I can do to help?" There was genuine concern in his voice. I knew there was a question that I had to ask and he would probably think I was crazy for asking.

"I know this is going to sound strange, but what it the date today? I mean the year and all," I asked whipping my eyes with the sleeve of my dark grey cardigan.

"It's June 1st 1941 Miss Odinson, why do you ask?"

The world slowly started to spin around me and I could hear Steve calling out my name as the world faded to black.

"Honestly Steve, what am I going to do with you? One minute your picking fights with some guy you have never met and the next your rescuing girls in the middle of the street

"Honestly Steve, what am I going to do with you? One minute your picking fights with some guy you have never met and the next your rescuing girls in the middle of the street."

"What was I going to do Bucky? Let the cab hit her? She just looked so lost."

"One day you are going to get yourself in to big trouble Steve and I'm not going to get there to save your butt. Then what are you going to do?"

"Can we talk about this later Buck? We currently have a unconscious girl in the living room and don't know what we can d0 to help her.".

"She's dressed kinda odd isn't she. I've never seen a girl where a dress that short, not that I'm complaining. And what are those, cowboy boots?"

"She had a soft southern drawl when she spoke, maybe it's country fashion. But she sure is beautiful."

"Dose little Stevie have a crush on his little damsel in distress? Look at how red your face is!"

I came to the sound of two men arguing, one of them sounded like Steve. I slowly started to open my eyes, I saw sun streaming through a window and an old fashioned radio sitting on a table under the window. I turned my head slightly turned my head to see I was lying on a couch and just to the side of it were Steve and a taller man with brown hair having a mock fight. Just as the taller man got Steve in a headlock, Steve noticed that I was awake and tried to pull away. I couldn't help but let out a small giggle as he pulled away and stumbled a little.

"Well, well, well, sleeping beauty is awake," the taller man drawled as he leaned against the wall as crossed his arms. I could tell he was skeptical of me. The strange girl on the street that his friend rescued, I would have felt the same if I was in his position.

"Hi, I'm Kimberly Odinson. It's nice to meet you," I said smiling holding out my hand for the man to shake.

"I'm James Buchanan Barnes, but you can call me Bucky," he said as he pushed himself off the wall to shake me hand.

As I sat up slowly, Steve came to sit down next to me on the couch and rested his hand on my knee. "I hope you don't mind Miss Odinson, but I got Bucky to help bring you back to my apartment after you fainted. I wasn't sure what else to do."

I smiled and grabbed the hand he put on my knee. There really was something comforting about Steve, it was like he would do anything to protect you. "Call me Kimberly, and that's fine that you brought me back. I would have done the same thing." Steve's fingers tighten around my hand and I could feel myself start to go red when I looked into his blue eyes. Looking down at my lap, I felt my self blush even more scarlet.

I don't know why he made me feel this way, he definitely was the complete opposite of my last and only boyfriend Mike. He was the quarter back of the college football team and every girl loved him. With his chocolate brown hair and eyes and tall and muscular build, I though I'd won the lottery when he asked me out. After all, most guys don't ask the girl who was shy, quite and who majored in literature and mythology out. Little did I know he was seeing at least 10 girls behind my back. When I confronted him about it, he called me naïve and old fashioned. It was then I saw how superficial he was, the only reason he asked me out was because he wanted a tall, blonde and studious girl on his arm to show off to his family while he dated all the party girls behind closed doors. That was 3 years ago and I still hadn't been able to trust another guy.

That was until I saw Steve, with his sweet smile and kind eyes. I knew there was something about him, but I didn't know what. I heard Bucky clear throat from across the room, causing both Steve and me to look over at him.

"Well, this is sweet and all but I have few questions. Like who the hell are you really? Why did you just walk out in front of a cab? Why are you dressed so strangely. And what the hell is this that fell out of your pocket when I put you down on the couch," Bucky questioned me as he walked over to the couch holding something purple in his hand. When I looked down I saw it was my phone which had somehow made the trip with me.

I saw it was unlocked from the photo of me with my family at Disneyland that clearly showed on the home screen. It was then that Bucky brushed against the screen turning on my music. Both Steve and Buckley had look of shock on there faces as What was I thinkin' by Dierks Bentley started playing.

"Oh, I knew there'd be hell to pay. But that crossed my mind a little too late..." Dierks' sang as both men stared at me with shocked looks on their faces.

All I could think was I couldn't have said it better myself Dierks...
