Steve and I stood outside the hospital ward with the rest of the Howling Commandos, waiting to hear any news on Falsworth. Steve and I sat on the seats that were just outside the hospital doors. I was still dressed in my pjs, which were now covered in blood and I cardigan that I had thrown over the top.

Bucky was pacing in front of the door, nervously awaiting news, while Dum Dum was leaning on the wall, playing with his bowler hat that he held in his hands. Gab and Jacques were standing, talking to each other in French quietly.

"Can you stop pacing form one damned minute Barnes. It's getting on my nerves," Dum Dum yelled pushing himself off the wall to stop Bucky.

"Hands off Dugan! If you were in your correct position, none of this would have happened and we wouldn't be waiting to find out if Monty was going to live or die!" Bucky yelled back at him. The fact that he used the shortened down version of Falsworth's first name showed how worried he was.

"So, it's my fault is it Barnes? Maybe if you were a better shot with that sniper of your, I would have been able to stay in position!"

Both men were starting to size each other up to start a fight. Bucky curling his hand in to a first, ready to throw a punch at Dum Dum at any moment. He was just about to pull his fist back to hit Dum Dum when I jumped up and intervened before either one of them got hurt.

"Will you both stop it! You're acting like children! We are all worried about Monty but throwing blame and hitting each other isn't going to solve anything!"

Everyone turned to look at us as I yelled at the two men, who were now standing in front of me now looking ashamed of themselves. They were both mumbling their apologies when the doctor walked out into the hallway.

"Brigadier Falsworth is going to be just fine, the quick thinking of Miss Odinson and that tourniquet saved him. Actually, he is asking to speak to you Miss Odinson. If you want to go in now, I can let you have a couple of minutes with him. But he does need his rest."

The doctor held the door open for me as I walked in the room. I couldn't help but let out a small gasp when I saw Falsworth. He was lying in bed, attached to an IV and had bandages wrapped his chest and leg. With all the blood he lost, he was extremely pale making him appear the same colour of the sheets on the bed.

"Hey Monty, how are you feeling," I asked as I sat down on the chair next to his bed.

"Better than I did before and a lot of that is thanks to you and your quick thinking."

"Anyone would have done it, I just happened to be the first," I told him as I felt my cheeks go red in embarrassment.

"But it wasn't anyone, it was you and I'll be forever grateful for it."

"I'm sorry Miss Odinson, but I'm going to have to ask you to leave. The brigadier needs his rest," a nurse said as she walked over to Falsworth and checked his IV.
