Over the days following Abraham's death Steve had gone under a number of tests as the remaining scientists tried to find a way to replicate the formula. I had been given a few days off as I couldn't face going back into the lab for a while. I had taken to walking to centennial park and reading to pass the days. But I often found myself sitting and watching people instead. It was calming to watch the children play without a care in the world, laughing as they chased each other.

I had also noticed a tall man in a British officer's uniform with black hair was quite often in the park and caught him watching me on a number of occasions. It went on for a few days but every time I got up to approach him, he seemed to disappear into thin air. I assumed that he was part of the SSR but I still wanted to make sure. I didn't want to worry Steve, he had too much going on as it was. So, when he asked me how I was every night when we got home, I always told him that I was fine. I don't think he believed me, but he never pressured me to tell him.

On the last days of my leave, I was determined to confront that man and find out who he was

On the last days of my leave, I was determined to confront that man and find out who he was. So instead of sitting on my normal bench, I stood behind a tree waiting for the man to arrive. Like clockwork he walked into the park and started looking for someone. I slowly walked up behind him and taped him on the shoulder.

"Excuse me, but who are you and why have you been watching me over the past few days," I asked looking up at the man. He looked familiar but I couldn't place where from.

"I am terribly sorry Miss, I'm Major, um, Odin... I mean Alden," he said stumbling over his words, speaking in a posh British accent. I knew straight away when he said Odin that he was sent by the SSR to keep an eye on me.

"You're with the SSR aren't you Major. They sent you to watch over me, didn't they? Don't worry I won't tell them I figured out who you are." I said as I turned to walk away from the Major, when I felt him grab hold of my arm.

"I can't thank you enough for not turning me in. I hate to think how much trouble I would be in if anyone found out. Please let me buy you lunch to say thank you Miss."

"Thank you so much for the offer Major but I have a boyfriend."

He started to get flustered, his pale cheeks turning red in embarrassment.
