*Chapter 30: Nectar

"Nate-kun!" I cheered as I ran to Nate standing in the opposite side of the police station that I arrived to in Castelia after Looker brought me from Aspertia City a few days after we visited father's grave.

Nate looked up from some paperwork and flinched when seeing me running and attack him on the floor with a hug "It's been a long time since I've seen you!" I cuddled up his face "How are you?"

"C-Cam... I'm fine. Can you get off?" I laughed and sat on the floor while he sat up and leaned on his knees, looking at me still smiling "You look happier than usual. I bet it was nice to spend time with your family" he smiled and stood up.

"Yes! We went to visit my father's grave in Icirrus City" he offered his hand to help me back on my feet.

"That's great. How was your time?" I scratched my head "What happened?"

"The Shadow Triad came looking for a fight, but it didn't last long. Other than that, I had a nice time just being with my family" Banette handed me the pictures Hilda developed the other day "We took tons of pictures!" He smiled and pet my head.

"I'm glad you had a good time" he organized his paperwork before walking me to the front of the station while we wait for Looker to come back.

"You were in Opelucid City. How was that?" He sighed and ran his fingers in his hair.

"Well... I saw my mom" I listened carefully when he glanced away "She got a bit of frost bite, but she's fine now. I went to go visit her, and I can just say she looked happy to see me, but she was also a little distant" he chuckled weakly "I kept my distance. I told her about my job and how I've been doing these pass few months. As I was talking to her, she looked like she loosened up and listened to everything I said. I told her about Team Plasma, I told her about the journey, my job, and even about you" I pointed at myself confused.

"Me?" He nodded and took off his backpack to dig for something "I'm sure it's all good things, right?" I joked.

"Yeah, I wasn't going to tell her how off you were, but I did say that you were a lot of work. The usual" I sweatdropped, knowing I shouldn't have expected him to say more about me "I also told her how fun-loving you are and how you made my journey a lot more fun" I looked at him confused as he took out a velvet textured box that was the size of my hands and gave it to me.

"What's this?" It looks like it holds some sort of jewelry.

"I told her that you have nightmares every night, so she got this as I was on duty around the city. Open it" a gift from his mother?

I opened it and saw a beautiful green dream catcher with unique feathers at the ends, even looking quite expensive "My mom is a handcrafter and makes a ton of things. She believes this can help with the nightmares. I don't know how, but look at how cool those feathers are" I smiled and closed the box so I could hug it "Do you like it?"

"Yes. This... This is so sweet. Thank you..." I don't believe something as simple as a dream catcher can help my nightmares, but it was a beautiful and thoughtful gift.

He smiled as I put the box away in Banette and looked back up to see him holding a smaller box the size of his palm of his hand "Huh?" I slowly took the box "Something else? Your mother didn't have to do that"

"Yeah, she made it, but this is from me. I saw it and thought you'd might like it" this is from him to me?

"You really thought of me?" I giggled and opened the box to see a pretty white and shining crystal attached to a necklace "A crystal?" I smiled, taking it out to put around my neck next to my other crystal "thank you!" I jumped to give him a hug "they're beautiful" he chuckled and pet my head.
