*Chapter 22: Chess

It took days upon days just to get where we needed to be, but Nate and I finally arrived to Lacunosa City... with a few problems. As we were close to arriving to the city, we got attacked by the familiar Pokémon that attacked me back in route 6.

"What's that Cobalion's issue?" Nate glared, leading the way to the Pokémon center with his fresh stitches I did for him after he took the blow when the Cobalion tried attacking me again.

"That's so strange that a legendary bothered to attack humans when you two were just traveling" Juniper frowned "Did you lose a lot of blood?"

"Not really. Cam is really good at preparing things from her bag" Nate said.

"Where is your bag?" Bianca asked me. I smiled and showed them my Banette "A Banette?"

"Yeah! This Banette here can surprisingly keep things in its mouth like storage! It's very useful and I don't have to carry that bag everywhere! It's a hassle running with it" Nate rolled his eyes and pretended like I didn't say anything.

He wasn't very happy when I told him that I actually brought the Banette from my house. He doesn't trust my house at all, so bringing something from there obviously didn't make him happy and I definitely got a scolding.

"Hey, Nate!" We looked up to see Hugh coming up to us with a normal smile until he saw me beside Nate "How's it going- What happened to your arm?" Hugh pulled my hair "What did you do?!" Nate pushed him off of me and kept me behind him.

"We got attacked by a wild Pokémon. Calm down! Don't you ever touch her like that again!" Nate glared. Hugh snorted and calmed himself.

"My bad, I just thought..." he shook his head "I'm not apologizing" Nate grabbed Hugh's shirt single handedly.

"And why not? You think I'm going to let you touch a girl whenever you want?! Why the fuck would you think that was a good idea?!"

"I thought she did that" Nate blinked confused. I looked at them before looking at Juniper and Bianca watching from a distance.

"What the fuck? Are you crazy?! I know Cam is weird, but she wouldn't do that!" Hugh lowered his eyes in suspicion.

"You wanna bet?" Hugh pulled himself away and pocket his hands "I didn't come here to fight, dude" I got between them.

"How did you get here so fast? Last time we saw you was back in Driftveil" Hugh leaned down to my face.

"I flew here, idiot" oh right! That's how Juniper and Bianca got here before us too! Nate nor I had a flying type that can carry us, so we were stuck with walking "Why do you care?" I shrugged my hands.

"Just asking" I turned to Nate "Come on! Let's get that wound treated!" I took his good hand and dragged him to look for the Pokémon center. Nate stopped at the door of the building and turned to us.

"I won't be out for very long, so Hugh, could you watch Cam for me?" Hugh flinched.

"What!?"

"It'll just be for a moment. Don't do anything that will make me kick your ass" Hugh snorted and agreed, but he wasn't happy about it. I giggled and saw Bianca hugging me from behind and look at me from behind my shoulders.

"Meet us over at the water fountain. You look like you have your hands full" Bianca said.

"I have something I want to show you, so meet us there when you can" Juniper said before leaving with Bianca, leaving me alone with Hugh.

"Why did he have to ask me to watch you?" Hugh faced me "Why do you need protection anyway?"

"I'm a important part of the police force, but I'm not a cop"
