*Chapter 49: League 🎶

I decided to leave for my new journey on my own after a week of preparation. Mom was disappointed to see me go, Rosa kept reminding me to call her everyday, Hugh came back to Aspertia and made Rosa hormonal and panicked about confessing her feelings or not, and Nate went back to work out of the city, so after that moment together in the rain, he had to leave.

Looker took the liberty to accept my investment in the ranch I wanted outside of Flocessy town so I can grow my garden and hire people to help around the place while I was gone.

I reunited with my friends all over Unova and earned badges from every gym across the land, feeling proud of myself that I accomplished so much on my own.

My team became stronger and I finally had a Pokémon that can fly after Dragonair evolved! I was able to fly back home as often as I could, but Nate was never around. It's best that it stays like that for now...

After a long few months of traveling on my own and expanding my freedom with dancing and singing in random places, running into new Pokémon I haven't seen in my previous journey, I had the time of my life. I even got the chance to catch up with Cynthia before she left by the end of the summer.

"Finally..." I looked up at Victory Road "I'm finally here" I looked at my Xtransceiver to see a message pop up "Oh great! They're nearby!" I went back a bit further from where I was before to look down the steps that brought me here. Cheren and Bianca were escorting Professor Juniper up the stairs "Over here!" I waved.

"Camilla!" Bianca smiled and jumped up to run up the stairs and give me a big hug. I was able to reunite with her and Cheren back in trainer school in Aspertia, so they remember me well enough, but Professor Juniper had been too busy for me to visit and get my progress on my Pokédex.

"Hey! It's been a minute" I smiled, hugging her back.

"Come on, Professor" Cheren called. Juniper was tired from walking up the steps while watching her feet, so I went over to offer my hand to her.

"Here. Let me help you" she took my hand without looking at my face. When I helped her up the steps with everyone, she took a deep breath and sighed.

"I've been stuck in the lab for so long that I lost my stamina from traveling" she chuckled and looked at me "Oh! Is that you, Camilla?" I smiled "It's been a long time! How are you?"

"I'm well! Thank you! I got all my badges from every gym leader and am ready for the Pokémon league"

"That's great! Bianca told me Camilla was going to participate in the league, but I didn't know who that was. I was asked to come and meet them"

"You don't remember Camilla, Professor?" Cheren asked. I didn't bother telling my friends how they lost their memory. It's better that it's just left unsaid and pretend it was normal memory loss from being away for a whole year, almost two.

"I guess I've been so focused with work that I didn't even think about it" Juniper claimed. I giggled at the claim, finding it better than saying something confusing "Camilla... You went out on a new journey to collect badges? What stopped you before?"

"I had a lot of things wrong with me, but now that I'm in a better place, I wanted to find something that I can be proud of. I wanted to find my purpose... and so I thought to find a way to protect people. Being champion is someone who protects people, so I want to be like that too"

"So you already decided you wanted to be champion" Cheren messed with my hair "You're bold to think it's that easy" Bianca nodded.

"It's true! Cheren wanted to be champion as well when we first traveled. Around the time Hilda was heading up to face the champion after defeating the elite four, N had already beat the champion" I gasped, forgetting about that story "His castle built up from the ground around the Pokémon league, and it was up to Hilda to take his crown and defeat Team Plasma. Not that I think something like that will happen again, but it won't be easy. I believe in you to do you best!" I nodded.
