*Chapter 12: Avenue

"I thought this route was deserted" I said as I looked around route 4, where it use to be surrounded by nothing but road and desert, now there are buildings everywhere.

"Unova changed a lot from the looks of it, but I've seen the changes unlike you" Nate said, checking his Xtransceiver "there are buildings everywhere, yet I can't get a good signal. I guess I'll contact Looker later" looks like he's trying to tell Looker about the news of me having a Pokémon, but there's so signal, so I won't have to be lectured today, probably.

"That sucks" I lifted my hand to cover the sun from my eyes to see a few boulders blocking the road "How did boulders end up in the middle of the road?" Nate noticed and walked over with me, seeing Colress observing them before noticing us.

"I've been waiting for you!" He smiled while I stared at the boulders, guessing it's probably a Pokémon from how excited I was to see them "interested in what's behind me?" Colress asked, patting the rocks "these are not mere rocks, but the Pokémon known as Crustle" I poked the Pokémon, not getting a response.

"That's a first" I pouted.

"With this device I created to energize Pokémon, I'll-" I interrupted by giving the rock a hug, instantly getting a response and woke one up, which made them all wake up.

"You're awake" I smiled. They flinched and scurried off. I sweat dropped and looked at the guys watching me.

"I don't know if this thing you have with Pokémon is a gift or a curse" Nate sweatdropped. I nervously laughed, not liking the idea of Pokémon running away from me as I told him how much I love them.

"You just woke them by touching them?" Colress asked "That's strange" he took my hand, confusing me "your body must hold a type of energy that repels Pokémon, a type of energy they find overwhelming. Don't see it as a bad thing, but it's starting to make me interested in involving you in my research!" Nate pulled Colress's hand away and brought me over to him.

"You don't have permission to touch her. Any further actions such as this will leave me no choice but to write you a ticket"

"H-Huh?" Colress blinked confused "You can do that?!" Nate crossed his arms.

"When it comes to this girl, strangely... Yes. I can" I giggled, finding it funny how my existence can bend the law system "Were you the one that put those Pokémon in the middle of the road?"

"Heavens no! They were just laying there asleep with those big boulders on their backs" Colress held his chin and looked back at the road "Team Plasma said we should recognize the potential in Pokémon and liberate them from humans. I disagree. Conversely, it should be humans who bring out the hidden potential in Pokémon"

"That's random" I comment. He looked back at me.

"Now that I think of it, I never asked for your name" Nate moved me behind him.

"You don't need to know her name. You're a suspicious character, so I don't think you'll get it anytime soon" he showed off his badge "I'm Nate, a rookie cop and expect release for your interest from this girl. She's protected and won't be a object of your research" Colress chuckled.

"Oh goodness. I didn't mean to make it seem like I've taken interest in her like that" I massaged Nate's shoulders, amused at this conversation.

"It's not that serious. It's not like I'm going anywhere without you"

"I won't disrespect your wishes, but right now, I simply want a battle. Battling you two together would be so much fun, don't you agree?" Nate looked at my unsure expression. Battle with Oricorio? I haven't battled with her in years!
