*Chapter 18: Triad

When Nate beat Hugh in battle, this made the crowd roar in excitement since he'll be the one going towards the crown with Colress. Girls were gushing at Nate's mysterious appearance and screaming his name that wasn't even his, which was Black. Clay told me he had to change his name since he was wearing a disguise.

The way Nate battled was incredible! I never seen him have so much fun! It almost makes me sad that he can't be like that around me, but I'm not an easy person to be around with and I'm his priority in his job. He has to be serious, even if he's being nice to me out of pity.

I cheered the best as I could when he battled against Colress in the finals. It was obvious to see that Nate was over this tournament since he already battled Hugh, but it was also obvious that he was having a good time. That made me smile, and hopefully one day he can be like that with Rosa... If she decides to dump that wimp of a boyfriend she has.

I'm fully aware that Rosa has a boyfriend from what happened in Pokéstar studios, and even Nate knows, yet he wants to express how he feels to her. I wish I can be that brave, but the world I'm admiring from afar isn't where I'm meant to be, so I'm wrong for liking Nate, yet I still do.

In the end of the tournament, Nate was victorious and became champion! I cheered at his victory and ended up throwing up in my empty popcorn cup I had. That didn't sit well, did it?

"Maybe yah shouldn't have ate all that popcorn, lad" Clay told me as we were leaving the tournament and waiting for Nate to come out while Hugh, Cheren, and Roxie were already up front.

"here" Clay dug in his pocket and took out a over the counter medication box" when you're as old as I am, you keep these in your pocket. You should take some medicine since you're not doing so well" I took the box of painkillers to read and sighed, remembering how many times I had to pretend to swallow the pills the hospital gave me. Since this wasn't what they were, I took the recommended amount and went over to the others.

"You guys did great! You two are gym leaders, right? You're so cool in how you battled!" I smiled at everyone. Hugh ignored me while Cheren and Roxie thanked me for the compliment.

"I can't believe I was beaten by Nate, who didn't even challenge my gym! I think he totally deserves a gym badge" Roxie said. Cheren nodded, agreeing.

"He's quite talented. Why didn't you participate, Camilla?" Cheren asked. I rubbed the back of my head .

"I don't exactly know how to battle..." I looked around for Oricorio, who probably is still outside waiting for me "I barely learned more about my Pokémon not too long ago" Alani told me so much about Oricorio that I'm shocked to know I knew nothing! Oricorio was probably a smuggled Pokémon, so she probably was too young to learn how to dance from other Oricorios, but with the advice Alani gave me, I was determined to help her dance again.

"You don't? That's a shame" Roxie held her hips "Good thing you're traveling with Nate. He's a real talent" I nodded proudly, agreeing.

"I still don't see why he's bothering to travel with you and protect you. You know he doesn't like you, right?" Hugh commented. I lowered my smile and nodded.

"Yeah, it doesn't really matter. I don't mind..." I saw Nate walking towards us with his regular clothes on "It's better that he doesn't" Hugh stared at me before noticing Nate was coming our way.

"An outstanding battle, runts!" Clay patted Cheren and Nate's back "Everyone will be waiting to see you in the next tournament!"

"Yeah... As fun as I had, I don't simply have the time" Nate shrugged "I am a cop, after all" he petted my head "watching over this girl is my job as her guard, so I can't just leave her on her own" I giggled.
