*Chapter 40: Clean🎶

"You sure I can come visit?" Rosa asked from inside mother's car before they were ready to leave.

"Yes!" I smiled.

"I haven't been to dad's house in years..."

"It's okay! I'll clean it up before you come! I look forward to it! Bye mother! Drive safe!" I waved goodbye to Hugh and his family in the same car "I hope I can see you again!" Jennie crawled onto Rosa's lap so she can come up to me "What's up, Jennie?"

"It's a full moon tonight, so don't worry! The moon will be watching over you" I smiled at her story and waved goodbye as they drove off. It was just me, Nate, and Looker now on the beach.

"So you'll be traveling on your own now?" Looker asked "I hope you won't get into trouble" I smiled.

"Don't worry. I won't have a need too. I'll be good! I swear" I looked at Nate still staring at his feet "Everyone is gone now, so that means we can go our separate ways. Nate and Looker... Thank you for this opportunity. Looker, if I didn't ask you to send me to Sinnoh, I wouldn't be the person I am today. I got more control from it, but not entirely" I giggled and turned to Nate "Nate, thank you for the memories and journey I wanted for so long. I wouldn't have been able to do it without you. Will you be visiting?" He didn't answer "I understand. I'm sure you'll be too busy when being a cop and all" I took his hands "Is there something I can do for you before I go? Besides not leaving?" I giggled. He squeezed my hands a bit.

"Let me walk you outside the city. I'm sure you'll be using Oricorio to take you home inside Banette?"

"That's the plan!" I giggled "Don't worry, I won't look at her portal" he nodded and walked me through the city on this quiet night sky with the street lamps shining our path "Oricorio should be heading your way whenever the new moon is set for the day. I trust you'll take care of her in her new form?" He didn't say anything "I'm sorry this has to happen, but I can't go around it" he stopped walking, still holding my hand. I looked back at him staring at his feet again "Nate?"

"Cam..." he looked up at me with a slight blush on his cheeks "Could you... Could you sing for me again..?" I widened my eyes, surprised to know that he knew I've been singing to him. Well... since this may be our last encounter, I might as well just say it...

"Sure..." I took his hand and took a deep breath "We keep behind closed doors. Every time I see you, I die a little more. Stolen moments that we steal as the curtain falls. It'll never be enough..." I looked down, squeezing his hands "I can't stop these silent tears from rolling down. You and I both have to hide on the outside. Where I can't be yours and you~ can't be mine...But I know this, we got a love that is homeless..." I sobbed, holding his hands close to my heart.

"Why can't I hold you in the street? Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor? I wish that it could be like that. Why can't it be like that? 'Cause I'm yours~ Why can't I say that I'm in love? I wanna shout it from the rooftops... I wish that it could be like that. Why can't it be like that? 'Cause I'm yours..." I let out a shaky sigh at his tears running down his cheeks. I held his cheeks to bring his lips onto mine, sharing a goodbye kiss that made my heart shatter at the fact that this is the only moment I really told him I'm in love...

"Goodbye... Nate" I tossed Banette in the air to take my body in hers and feel Oricorio swoop her to fly me back home. I closed my eyes to ignore the portal around me and hugged myself, thinking of the face Nate gave me before I left him. Why..? Why did he look at me like that?

"Ban!" Banette called out to me. I opened my eyes to see myself surrounded by volcanic rock around my home in Letimas Town.

"That was faster than expected" I looked up at the darkness around me with a full moon in sight, but it wasn't enough "I'm going to need some fire... Lampent?" Lampent reappeared beside me "Those lanterns attached to the house. Light them up so I can see where I'm going" Lampent nodded and went to light the outside of the house "That's better... but I'll need more light inside" I opened the door and walked into the darkness inside. The door behind me slammed shut, locking me inside in the pitch darkness.
