Chapter 15 Hold On

After lunch, we decided to start cleaning up, as Zak and Darrel were going to come tomorrow.

Zelk insisted on giving them his room, and he was going to sleep on the floor in Mega's room.

Mega's room was fairly big, so it would fit both of them.

They started with Jacob's room, and slowly moved to the kitchen and the living room.

As they lacked some cleaning instruments, they went to the attic.

"Ooohh. This place is amazing."

'Yeah, sure.'

"Oh hey... look..."

Mega turned around.

Jacob was holding an object.

I recognized it as my guitar that I played earlier and didn't fully put away.

"You play guitar? I didn't know that.." Jacob looked at me questionably.

I shook my head.

"I used to," I muttered.

Jacob sat down on the old couch and opened the case.

"Wow looks recently used." He shot me a look.

'Oh, shut up.' I rolled my eyes.

Jacob took out the guitar and strummed it a little.

He looked up at me, I frowned.

The chords were off-tune again. 

He seemed to be enjoying himself, even though he didn't know how to play.

I noticed Mega's reaction and the brief glimmer in his eyes.

Yes.

That is what I has been going for.

His mask of indifference was broken.

I just needed to play a little bit more, to persuade Mega for him to show me how it's done.

He needed that resentment on his face, and the longing to show me how to play.

I strummed a bit more.

I looked up to find Mega straining himself from taking the guitar from me.

It was time.

"So what am I doing wrong?"

"Everything."

I handed him the guitar, and he hesitantly took it.

Mega gently strummed it and, frowning, started tuning it.

I tried my best to hide my triumph.

He strummed it a few more times, until finally satisfied with the sound.

Mega sat down, completely absorbed in the instrument.

I held my breath, I didn't want to distract him, and ruin the moment.

He played a simple melody.

He built it up, playing more confidently, adding more chords...

I recognized the song, from a very long time ago.

We played it together in Highschool, while others were partying.
