"So do you talk to your son?" I asked, biting my burger.
"Occasionally," he shrugged. "He's a prideful boy just like I raised him to be so things aren't easy."
"What do you mean prideful?"
"He saw the mistakes I made in the past and I'm pretty sure he doesn't forgive me for them but I don't blame him."
"You know he'll come around, you're a great person Chris," I smiled.
"Thank you, now eat some of this pork belly," he said, grabbing a spoonful.
"No," I whined.
"Try it, I promise you'll like it."
I finally agreeable as he brung the spoon to my mouth. I slowly chewed and swallowed.
"It tastes like...no. I don't like it," I sighed.
"Yeah it is kind of gross," he laughed.
"Really?" I asked sarcastically. "So you tricked me?"
"Something like that," he shrugged.
I shook my head continuing to eat my burger and fries.
"Well I'm full," he sighed.
I looked down at all the half eaten dishes. He should be full, this is a big platter of things just for it to be lunch.
"I'm done too," I said but the only difference is I actually ate all my food.
The waiter brought the bill as Chris placed his card.
"Pick a number from 100-1000," he said, signing his name.
"500," just because it's in the middle.
"Well I guess it's the waiters lucky day," he grinned.
"Why?"
"I left her a $500 tip."
"Wow you really are a good person," I said shocked.
"I told you, I try," he shrugged.
We got up leaving. I connected my arm under his as we walked to the car. He wasn't even surprised he just went with the flow.
He drove back to the house as I started dozing off in the passengers seat.
"Oh Emily...." he called. "We're back."
"Mhm," I moaned.
I heard him chuckle followed by the door closing.
He picked me up bridal style out the car and carried me into the house.
"What are you about to do?" I asked.
"Work out."
"I want to go."
"But you're tired.
"I'm up," I said finally opening my eyes. "I want to watch."
"Okay," he smiled, heading towards his gym.
He placed me down on the couch.
He started bench pressing as I watched him. He took off his shirt making my eyes widen. Whew this man had a body, like he was really built.
"You should try this," he grinned working on his biceps. I got up lifting two 15 pound weights in both hands.
"How can you do this continuously?" I whined.
"You just put your mind to it," he smiled.
"Yeah that's not enough motivation for me," I said, placing the weights down.
