He mixed up this and that and held out a spoon full of it.

Chanhee: Try it.

I hesitantly took a bite of it.

Y/n: Not bad. It must've been long since you started staying here.

Chanhee: Yeah, Sangyeon saved me from one of the vampires when I was younger. I told him I would do anything to thank him as I didn't have anything valuable with me during those days. He was hesitant about it but I forced him.

He lowly chuckled.

Chanhee: I mentioned working for him and he just agreed.

Y/n: Oh...looks like you're the one who knows him best.

Chanhee: Yeah, probably.

Y/n: What about your parents? Were they aware of this?

Chanhee: You see, I was an orphan. I don't remember my parents. I only remember growing up in the orphanage.

Y/n: Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't know.

Chanhee: It's fine, I hear that a lot. I was often told that they left me there as soon as I was born. But I don't want to be pitied because of that. It makes me feel more uncomfortable.

Y/n: I'll keep that in mind. How old were you?

Chanhee: When Sangyeon saved me?

Y/n: Yeah.

Chanhee: 13 years old.

Y/n: You worked for him at that age?

Chanhee: Yup. I told you, he was hesitant about it because I was too young. I matured really early.

Y/n: Well...that's interesting to hear.

Chanhee: This question might be weird for you, coming from me but, how old are you?

Y/n: It's okay, it's not weird. I am turning 24 this December.

Chanhee: Oh, you're a lot younger than me. I'm turning 30 this year.

My mouth fell open.

Y/n: THIRTY? You've been here for more than ten years?

Chanhee: I have nowhere else to be.

He shrugged and stood up, placing the empty bowls back on the tray.

Y/n: I thought you'd be younger than me.

I muttered.

Y/n: Did you find it scary and weird in here?

Chanhee: A little. Sangyeon was always by my side so I had nothing to fear.

Y/n: That's so sweet.
