The year is 1993.
Heroin addict Layne Staley of Seattle rock band Alice In Chains has just had the fear of God put into him following a bandmate's overdose.
When faced with a simple decision, the butterfly effect comes into play...
Mike McCready- pictured above with our dear Layne -is of the band Pearl Jam! He was indeed Layne and Jerry's friend... he's honestly a really great, friendly guy! Everything in this chapter- though dramatized for the sake of the story- is absolutely true. Mike did all of this!
For a reminder, here are pictures of our other two Mikes:

April 17, 1994: USA
A hangover is not a fun thing to wake up to.
No one knew that better than Mike McCready, guitarist for the Seattle grunge band Pearl Jam. Still, he could never bring himself to stop drinking. It was what he woke up to; what he went through the day with; and went to sleep with after the effects took hold.
He was hopelessly addicted. If he wasn't careful, he was going to drink himself to death.

Pearl Jam had played a show last night on April 16 for SaturdayNightLive. It had been fun.
Pearl Jam's other guitarist, Stone Gossard, just had to ask Mike what he thought of the last song they'd played during the show.
"What song?" Mike had droned, every sound around him like knives in his ears.
"'Daughter'..." Stone answered, raising an eyebrow at his friend.
Mike returned the expression, confused. "We played 'Daughter'?!"
