After everything that happened, the media wanted to know more details about what led to the previous event and being the public figure that you are, you had to take part in a press conference by tomorrow. No matter how crappy you felt, you couldn't show any weakness and you had to stay in character.

You sat in your office, feeling an incoming headache ache as you stared at all the things that had to be worked on. Aside from the press conference, there were several interview requests from various broadcasters, your company's anniversary party was fast approaching and there was still a meeting to be held regarding the missing funds you pretended to be pay for ransom. You rubbed your temples as someone knocked on your door.

"Come in." You tried not to sound too pissed off.

"Miss (l/n)." The visitor turned out to be none other than Kusumoto. Great, was he here now to chew you out because of the company funds you "paid" to the League of Villains?

"What can I do for you?" Your tone wasn't as friendly as you intended to but you didn't care at this point.

"I just wanted to check on you. Are you alright?"

"Since when do you care about my wellbeing?"

"I don't always agree with your decisions but that doesn't mean I wish you ill towards you or your family. I'm very sorry about what happened to your sister and I know it was a very difficult choice for you to sacrifice some of our resources to save her. We just want to let you know that you don't have to be in the meeting or discuss the anniversary party, we'll just update you to check if you agree. Just focus on the press conference for now."

You were stunned to hear such compassion from your usually defiant vice president.

"...I see. Thank you."

"By the way, your parents are here. You should probably speak to them. "

He walked back to the door and allowed your parents in without asking for your approval first. Your mom ran up to with a worried expression on her face and your dad looked stern as always but his eyes betrayed concern. After Kusumoto closed the door behind him you ushered for them to take a seat.

"It's been so long since I last saw you, (y/n)." Your mother cupped your cheek. "You've gotten even prettier."

You smiled bashfully at her, a little embarrassed at the sudden gesture even though nobody else was around.

"How's Asami?"

"She's recovering well, but witnessing what happened to her friends... isn't something she'll easily get over. Thank you, (y/n). For saving her."

"Well, she is my sister... I couldn't just leave her to them..."

You felt that ugly apprehension bubbling inside you and you looked down, avoiding eye contact with them.

"There's something else we wanted to discuss with you." Your father's stern voice snapped you back to their attention. "It's about that time we saw you eating dinner with that man, who claimed to be the director of OnAir Solutions, Nomi Renji. Tell me, are you still seeing him?"

"No, that was actually the last time I ever saw him. What happened to him?" You stiffened in your seat, worried about what they found out.

"He was lying about his true identity. The real Nomi Renji looks completely different and has claimed to never meeting you before. The man who was with you that night was actually Overhaul, the head of Shie Hassaikai, a yakuza organization we suspect is in cahoots with the League of Villains."

"... What?" You feigned shock.

"His trademark is a plague mask but he was not wearing one that evening most likely to fool you."
