You yawned as you finished answering the last set of emails, proud of yourself for clearing what seemed to be an infinite inbox. You checked the time and figured it was the right time to call it a night and headed to the bathroom of your new room. It was still a weird feeling not be in your penthouse after working.
Just as you were about to take a shower, a soft knock sounded from the door and you wrapped yourself in a towel before it. Of course the only person to show up in your quarters was the young yakuza head himself.
"(Y/n), you need to be extra careful around Rikiya Yotsubashi. He's much more dangerous than you think." It's been a couple of hours since you last had that conversation but it appeared he was still obsessing over this issue.
"... Is this about the book again?" You still didn't get why he was so alarmed about your new Vice President owning a fairly known book.
"I've sent men to investigate him but they have not returned or even reported anything, neither can they be reached."
"Or maybe your men haven't reported yet because they haven't found anything. Someone like Yotsubashi must have good bodyguards. Why don't you give it some time?"
"They should report back to me regardless whether they found something or not." He sat on a chair in the corner of the room. His brows were ceased and he looked agitated. He was really stressed out about this.
"You always remind me to take care of myself but it looks like you need a break this time."
"How can I rest easy not knowing anything about someone working close to you? He might even be more of a threat than Kusumoto was."
"He just started his job as vice president so we will just have to wait and see. I mean, what are the chances of getting a vice president scheming my assassination twice in a row?"
Kai narrowed his eyes.
"That's not funny, (y/n). Given everything that has happened to you I'd hope you would take any possible threats towards you more seriously." He stood from the chair and walked up to you, looking at you like you were a naïve teenager who didn't understand why she wasn't allowed to go out. "Each time you go out to meet new people, you are exposed and vulnerable to whatever sick plans they may have in mind. And it always worries me to know that everyday there is a possibility of someone trying to take advantage of you."
You gazed up to his hypnotizing golden eyes which reflected genuine concern.
"You've already been kidnapped twice. I can't have that happen to you again." He reached up his gloved hand and stroked your cheek. "I know you must think my methods are extreme but you have to understand that I just want to keep you safe. You know that, do you?"
"... I do." You knew that his intentions were to always keep you safe but you couldn't help but still be mad at him for microchipping you and making you live here with him this way.
Kai then proceeded to take off his mask and placed it on the table next to the shower. This wasn't fair. It was much harder to act mad around him with his handsome face exposed. While your mind may be holding a grudge, your body unfortunately did not.
You couldn't help but stare at his lips, recalling that time you made out in your penthouse. It felt like such a long time ago and the desire was almost maddening. Why was this problematic man so delectable?
And just like that, he inched closer to you and kissed you and you just couldn't resist it. You may have come off as a bit too greedy but he didn't seem to mind as his hands trailed down your hips. Only a towel was wrapped around you and if he made a move...
