The morning of the press conference arrived and you did well to look presentable. After all, many eyes would be on you, most probably Overhaul's included. He was always updated with your public interviews and conferences.

You entered the conference room and smiled, albeit not too brightly since this press conference was a serious matter and you didn't want to appear too cheerful. Sitting on the table ordained with nothing but a microphone and a bottle of water, you began answering the reporters' questions. You answered according to the story and evidence you and Overhaul fabricated that would leave no room for doubt. After all, no one suspected you and the reporters mainly asked how the League of Villains reached out to you, how your sister was coping, and what you would do protect your employees who also had family members who are heroes. You managed to answer as smoothly and as convincing as you should. No reporter seemed to doubt you, but there was one question that caught you off guard.

"If working with villains became more profitable for your company, would you do it?"

You hesitated only for a moment. "No. (Y/c) was built to support heroes and aspiring heroes alike, and we will not stray from our foundation. We will do everything in our power to help our heroes prevail. This is not about profit, it's about standing together."

Only a few follow up questions came but other than that, the reporters seemed to be satisfied by your answers and they slowly started to dissipate the room, leaving only a dozen of people inside, including your board members. Kusumoto beckoned you to come over to him in the far corner of the room.

"You've done a good job in uplifting our company's image after the incident, but I hope you're not serious about your last statement."

You scrutinized him. "Are you referring to our continued support to heroes?"

"Precisely. I know you are a good leader but you can be naïve. You can't always just lead with your heart, you always need to choose what is best, not what is right."

You blinked at him several times in confusion. "Are you telling me I should have answered that we should help villains instead if it was more profitable?"

"No, your answer was perfect. I'm just saying you shouldn't follow it though. If ever the time comes where working with villains becomes more profitable, then we should take that opportunity."

"Have you worked with villains before?"

"No. I'm just giving you advice on a possible outcome." With that he turned and walked out of the room, leaving you dumbstruck. So, he thought you were a naïve little girl who wouldn't bloody her hands for her empire. That was as hilarious as it was infuriating. Everything you've done was for the best interest of (y/c). What did he ever do aside from playing golf?

But the way he approached you made him suspicious. Just what was he planning?  You would have to bring this up to Overhaul just to be cautious.

After all these hour long questions hurled at you, nature's call for release was strong and you immediately headed for the washroom.

Your phone buzzed as you were done, and upon checking, you saw that Overhaul had texted you, inviting you over for dinner. You eagerly accepted and exited the cubicle.

You studied your face in the mirror as you washed your hands. Despite everything, you looked great, better than ever even. Whatever flaws you've had, had already been remedied. It was true when they say there are no ugly people, only poor ones.

"'This is not about profit, it's about standing together', huh?"

You spun around to the source of the voice. Emerging from one of the cubicles, bloody red eyes peeked out in between fingers.
