You stared up at the young yakuza boss like a deer caught in headlights. Did he know...?
You knew he would not like it if you met up with anyone from the League of Villains without his permission; making plans with them even less so and you couldn't imagine what were the possible consequences to your actions. As frightened as you felt, you masked your fear as well as you could in hopes of weaseling out of this situation if you had a chance.
"I suppose this is about my meeting." You probed, hoping to find out just how much he knew. He simply narrowed his eyes, which gave him an even more menacing look.
"Why don't we discuss this further inside?" He asserted, his voice smooth and courteous but cold and piercing just like the harsh look in his eyes. This was terrifying. What would he do to you now?
He dismissed Setsuno, leaving only the two of you together. His gaze was expectant as he waited for you to open the front door which you did while trying your best to hide how shaky your hands and legs were. Once inside, you headed to your living room but he didn't even take a seat. His golden irises remained fixed on you like a predator seizing up its prey.
"Now tell me," he took a step closer to you, making your heart race, "Where did you run off to after my men brought you to the café you were supposed to meet with Tomutso?"
So he knows that you didn't show up to the meeting but he apparently he didn't know that you met up with Shigaraki. That was something. You could still turn this around somehow.
"... I know I shouldn't have just left without the help from the Shie Hassaikai. It was reckless of me." You started. "I... found a lead on my COO. I believe she is moving against me."
"And why exactly did you have to slip away without telling us anything?"
"There was an associate, who I believed was hers, present at the café and I decided to follow him."
A low hum emitted from his chest as if he didn't quite believe you.
"And yet Tomutso never bothered to show up to your meeting in the first place. You already cancelled it without updating your schedule. Sounds like you had already planned this ahead." He remained calm but his tone was accusatory. You should have known this wouldn't be easy. Overhaul was no fool.
"Yes... I heard from the office that a potential associate would be there so I followed him. I didn't know yet if there was anything to be wary of so I wanted to investigate this myself."
"And what if the associate turned out to be a danger to you? What would you have done?"
"Yeah, I know, it was a stupid and impulsive reaction from me. I apologize for making you worry. The lead turned out to be a dead end, so-"
"Do you not trust us? Has the Shie Hassaikai failed to meet your expectations?"
You blinked at him in surprise.
"Of course not. In fact, you've always exceeded my expectations-"
"Then why did you not rely on us?"
At this point you wondered why you lie to him in the first place. Shigaraki's secret plans worried you so it would definitely help to have the Shie Hassaikai watch him. But then again, what if Shigaraki did have some genius plan and having the Shie Hassaikai spy on them would eventually result in a clash between the two? You didn't want that to happen either.
"I just felt like I have been relying on you too much. You've been loaded with my tasks lately, so I-"
"(Y/n)." He stopped you mid-sentence. The demeanor of his voice hadn't changed but hearing him say your name always stirred something in you. "We promised that we would protect you and carry out whatever you asked of us, did we not?"
