It was already Thursday, and Overhaul would drop by later to fetch your tower but you to had a couple more important meetings before you. Right now, you had to give your presentation on the suggested features of the newest notebook series you were planning to release. You released a small sigh to mentally prepare yourself.

"What are you sighing for, Miss (L/n)?"

"Vice President Kusumoto." You greeted him unenthusiastically.

"Does being a CEO tire you? Makes me wonder if someone as young as you is actually capable of shouldering all the responsibilities..."

"A little sigh does not disqualify me." You glared at him and entered the meeting room. You greeted your fellow board members and began your presentation.

"As previously discussed, since our target customers are the police force, heroes and hero students, this notebook will be lightweight and easy to carry, plus it will be both water and fire resistant this time to prevent any possible data loss during dangerous situations they may find themselves in-"

"I don't think it's a good design. It is too thin and breakable." Kusumoto spoke up.

"Ultra-thin is the most efficient design right now, we don't want to burden our customers with something bulky and heavy."

"I think it's a great design, (y/n)." Your Chief Operating Officer commented. The other board members agreed and the meeting was concluded, everyone left except for you and Kusumoto.

"You will be the downfall of this company." He told you.

"Me? Then how come we are currently the leading tech company? Last I remembered, it was you begging me to work with you to save you from bankruptcy!"

"Such arrogance. Make sure it won't bite you back."

"I'll watch my back for sure, Vice President." You pronounced the rank clearly to remind him. He glared a you for a few moments before leaving.

He was always like this, looking for every little doubt or weakness in you, proof you weren't worthy of your position.

When you first met, you were a poor college student who tried to sell your inventions to support your way through school. Kusumoto Technologies was a failing technology company which bought your inventions to resell them, hiring you as a part-time project manager and thanks to you, thrived again. To gain more recognition from the products they were selling and prevent other interested companies from hiring you, they relaunched as (y/c), making you the new CEO after you graduated, and Kusumoto now the Vice President, much to his dismay.

You knew he wanted his role back but there was no way in hell you would give it up. This was your empire now.

As much as you'd like to fire him, it was up to the board who would be fired, and as of now, they still needed him. For sure, he would keep a close eye on you and report anything suspicious to damage your reputation. You had to be careful around him.

After a few more dinner meetings, you rushed home. There were still 30 minutes left before 11. You checked your phone and saw that Overhaul texted you that he was already on his way. You hoped he would stick to his word and not assassinate you in your home. This would be the very first time you would have guests since purchasing this penthouse. You didn't want anyone to know where you lived since this was your sanctuary, your comfort zone, a safe place to keep you separated from your work life.

Before leaving this morning, you made your bots clean every inch of this place. Overhaul would probably only head for the back room where the tower was hidden but in case he decides to take a seat on the couch, you had to make sure everything was clean. The last thing you wanted is for him to freak out over a dirty spot.
