Chapter 6

You've managed to survive the catastrophic evening and business went on as usual with Overhaul. It was not like forgiveness couldn't be bought for such instances.

But today was another very bad day for you. It was beyond busy , one meeting after another and being bombarded in between by employees asking you for help and you did everything in your power to hold back from screaming at them to figure it out themselves. Maybe it was time to fire some people.

Your phone vibrated almost every 5 minutes and you haven't had any lunch or even a snack since early morning. And you still had to attend a gala later and give a speech. You were teetering at the brink.

You were finally done with all the meetings at the office and the gala was barely 2 hours from now. You had to hurry home if you wanted to make it time. Fishing the phone out of your pocket, you saw you had 118 notifications just for today and turned off your phone. Screw that. Only the gala was left and you were so done for today.

As you reached home, you immediately put on the gown you ordered and started applying make up. You were going to be late but whatever. You couldn't care less at this point.

"Chisaki Kai, also known as Overhaul, has requested permission to enter." You heard Ada's voice through your speakers.

"Let him in and tell him to go upstairs. Unlock my room please." You said, continuing to do your make up and wondering what brought him here.

It didn't take long for him to reach your room and enter the large alcove with big wardrobes and a giant mirror at the center where you were sitting.

"It's good to see you." You greeted him. "I didn't know you were coming over."

"I sent you a message before coming here."

You cringed as you remembered that you turned off your phone.

"Right... how can I help you today?"

He moved slowly and cautiously, placing a folder on the vacant space on your table as if he was afraid to touch anything.

"I wanted to to share our newest research update. Had I known you were busy today I could have dropped by another time. "

"Sorry. I'll take a look at it when I get home." You answered and finished working on your eyes. You could see him standing behind you, his golden eyes meeting yours in the mirror, making you shiver a little. Why were his eyes so beautiful and his gaze so intense?

"... Why don't you take a seat? I'll be done in a bit." You offered him. His eyes lingered in the mirror for a little while before turning away and you felt relieved. After inspecting every angle of your face, you decided you were good to go and got up to meet Overhaul to find him sitting on your armchair facing the large aquarium beside your bed, his eyes trailing up and down your figure. You swallowed, wondering what could be on his mind.

"You've lost weight."

"H-have I?" You nervously laughed. That was not what you expected. How was he able to tell when you only met up a few times?

"Yes. I know you have been busy but someone like you should not neglect taking care of yourself."

"I'm doing my best in staying healthy, I assure you. But I appreciate your concern." You assured him with a smile.

"... Well, you look good either way." He gave a nod as if to approve. You blushed a little. The air grew a little more awkward.

"So, did you want to discuss anything else?"

"No, I believe that was it. Just give us a call if there is anything you want to clarify about the update. "

This surprised you. Why did he wait if there was nothing else he wanted to talk about? "I see. It was a pleasure to see you again but I regret I have to leave."
