•Jalissa's POV•
When we got to the park, everyone was already there — Colin's family, a few of his teammates & Melanie. When I saw my family & Stephanie, I ran to them and jumped on my dad.
After my dad put me down, Tristan ran to me and jumped in my arms. I didn't realize how much I missed my family until now.
"Lissy, I missed you & Logan," he said.
"We've missed you too," I said, trying not to cry. "What are y'all doing here? I thought y'all couldn't make it?"
"It was a surprise from Colin," my mom said.
I turned around, and Colin was standing behind me, smiling with Logan in his arms.
"You are the best," I said quietly while giving him a hug.
He smiled and kissed my cheek before talking to my family. When Logan saw Jamal, she went crazy. She hadn't seen him in months and he was still her favorite person, aside from Colin of course.
Throughout the party, I spent a majority of my time with Stephanie because I missed her so much. I didn't really have any true friends out here, so it was nice to see her.
"So, what's it like living out here?" she asked, sitting next to me on the bench.
"It's pretty straight, but I miss Atlanta."
"Really?!"
"Yeah. All my friends & family are in Atlanta. I'm like a baby out here because everyone I hang out with is older than me. And oh my God, there's no Krystal out here," I pouted.
Stephanie shook her head and laughed at me. "What about your job? Do you like it?"
I shrugged. "Yeah, but I have a problem with one of the other PTAs. She doesn't like me for some reason, but I don't care."
"You want me to handle her?" she asked casually.
"No, Steph," I laughed. "I'm good."
"Ma ma."
I turned to my right and Logan was walking toward me with Colin behind her, making sure she didn't fall.
"Hi baby." I picked her up and kissed her cheek.
"We have a problem," Colin said.
"What problem?"
He pointed straight ahead, and his ex was walking over. The same ex that approached me in the library.
"You need to go over there and handle that," I said, looking up at him. He nodded and walked toward her.
"Who is that?" Stephanie asked, playing with Logan.
"Colin's ex."
"The one that approached you when you first moved here?"
"Yeah..."

•Colin's POV•
"What the hell are you doing here?!"
I was trying really hard to keep my composure because there were children out here.
"Did your little girlfriend send you over here to get rid of me?" Chrystal smirked.
"Stop! What do you want?!"
She rolled her eyes and sighed. "I heard it was your daughter's birthday, and I wanted to bring her a little gift."
"You can leave it, then go."
"Colin —"
"I don't wanna hear it!" I said, raising my voice a little. "I don't know how you found out about this party, nor do I care. Just leave."
She was definitely pissed, but I did not care. It's my daughter's first birthday, and I wasn't gonna let her ruin it.
With the present in my hand, I walked back to Jalissa and set it on the table.
"What'd you say to her?" Stephanie asked. "She looked really upset."
"I just told her to leave," I said, taking Logan.
"You are so hot," Jalissa whispered, making me smirk a little. She probably thought I didn't hear her. "Anyway, what's this?"
"She said she brought a present for Logan," I said.
She stood up off the bench and picked it up. "Aww, how sweet."
She walked over to the the trash can and dropped the present inside. I honestly wasn't expecting that, so I laughed.
"Jalissa, why'd you do that?" Stephanie asked her.
"Because I don't trust her, and I don't want her buying things for my child. Who knows what's in that box."
I shook my head and chuckled at Jalissa's paranoia, then grabbed her hand. "Come on, Lis. It's time to sing 'happy birthday.'"
We went to the table where the cake was, and everyone crowded around as Jalissa sat Logan on her lap. We all sang 'happy birthday' to Logan, making her smile and clap. I think she likes being the center of attention.
I helped her blow out her candle and as soon as it was out, she shoved her hand in the cake and put her hand up to Jalissa's mouth, then put her hand in her own mouth. Everyone laughed and took pictures before Jalissa cleaned her up.
"You would do something like that, Logan," Jalissa said, wiping her mouth.
While everyone was talking and eating, Jalissa & I went to a far away bench so I could talk to her alone.
"What's up?"
I took her left hand in mine and kissed her knuckles. "Thank you."
"For what?"
"For giving me a beautiful baby girl and allowing me to be apart of her life."
She smiled and kissed my cheek. "You don't have to thank me for that."
"Yeah, I do. You could've easily kept her from me, but you didn't."
She put her forehead against mine and pecked my lips. "I could never keep Logan from you, Colin."
I smiled and kissed her forehead before she laid her head on my shoulder with our fingers intertwined.
Aside from Chrystal trying to ruin everything earlier, today has been perfect.
