ch. 3 || day two

•Jalissa's POV•

I'm still pissed at Giovanna for the way she acted last night. I understand she wants to protect me, but she still treats me like I'm a child.

I woke up around nine o'clock, and the first thing I did was wash my face & brush my teeth. I went back in the room to check my phone and I had a few messages, but I only read the ones from Colin & Giovanna.

i won't really be around much today. i have practice from 8-10 then i'm spending the rest of the day w. tony. sorry.

What was the purpose in me coming out here if she was just gonna be with her boyfriend all weekend. I could've stayed home!

"Whatever," I said to myself.

I didn't even bother to reply to her; I just read Colin's message next.

From: Colin Kaepernick
I have practice & a lot of other business to take care of but I was thinking afterwards I could come pick you up and we could hang out.

I know Gi told me to stay away from him, and I probably would've listened to her if she didn't treat me like a child.

me: that sounds good.

I knew he was busy, so I wasn't expecting a reply. I set my phone down and went to take a shower.

•Colin's POV•

After practice, I checked my phone to see if Jalissa texted back, and she did.

From: Jalissa Tucker
that sounds good.

me: So I'll pick you up around 7:30?

From: Jalissa Tucker
okay. see you then.

I didn't even realize I was smiling at my phone until Michael pointed it out.

"Kaep! What the hell are you smilin' at?" he asked as we sat around in the locker room.

"Nothing," I lied.

"Liar," he said, snatching my phone. "Who's Jalissa?"

"Gi's cousin."

"Lil mama from the party yesterday?" he asked. I nodded as he gave my phone back. "Does Gi know about this?"

"She knows, but she doesn't like it," I shrugged.

"You better not do anything to that girl or Gi will kill you," he said, walking out of the locker room.

I got my bag, threw it over my shoulder and exited the locker room as well. As I was making my way to my car, I heard someone shout my name. I turned around, and Giovanna was storming in my direction.

"What?"

"What do you think you're doing?" she asked, obviously angry.

"Going home," I said, although it sounded more like a question.

"Don't play dumb. What is this I'm hearing about you going out with Jalissa tonight?"

Damn. Crabtree can't keep his mouth shut for nothing!

"We're going out later."

"No, you're not."

"Your cousin's a big girl, Gi. I think she can make her own decisions," I said.

"Colin, why are you doing this?"

"Look, I like your cousin —"

"How can you like someone you've only known for a day?!" she asked, "how do I know you're not just being nice so you can have sex with her?"
