Colin's POV

When I woke up, Jalissa's arms were wrapped around my torso and her head was up against my chest. I could get use to waking up like this.

I didn't know if she was asleep, so I didn't move. I just smiled and kissed the top of her head.

"Good morning," I heard her say.

"Good morning."

She kissed my chest and rested her head on it. I liked being this close to her. If I could, I would lie here with her forever.

Her phone kept going off, which made her groan. She got up to get it off the dresser, but I didn't want her to move.

"Stupid thing has been going off all morning," she said, checking the phone.

She put it down, checked on Logan, then sat on the edge of the bed.

"You're very popular today," I said.

"Not really. It's just everyone wishing me a happy birthday," she said nonchalantly with a shrug.

"It's your birthday?"

"Mhm."

How could I like someone so much and not know when their birthday is?

"I wish I would've known that. I would've bought you something," I said, immediately feeling bad.

"You don't have to get me anything. You already gave me the best gift I could ask for," she said, looking at Logan's crib.

While Logan was sleeping, we went to go brush our teeth.

"So what are you doing today?" I asked when we got back in her room.

"I told my grandparents I would bring you by to meet them. I hope you don't mind."

"I don't mind at all."

We took our showers and got dressed. After she got Logan ready, we left to go see her grandparents.

I was expecting Jalissa's grandparents to be judgmental and really hard on me since I impregnated their granddaughter, but they were the exact opposite.

Her grandmother is kinda wild & funny, like her mom, but she's sweet. Her grandfather is pretty tough, but he turns soft when it comes to Jalissa & Logan, kinda like me.

"Let me take you out to lunch for your birthday," I said as we drove around.

"Okay, Colin."

I love hearing her say my name.

She pulled up to this little restaurant, and we went inside and sat at a booth. There were people taking pictures and staring, but I didn't pay them any attention. I was only focused on my girls and making sure Jalissa has a good day.

"I hope this isn't rude, but how old are your grandparents & parents? They look really young," I said after the waitress took our order.

"Nona is 58 & Grandpa is 60. My mom's 38 & my dad's 40. Nona had my mom when she was twenty and my mom had me when she was eighteen."

"What about Jamal and Jasmine?"

"She was sixteen when she had them."

"So, they're twins?"

"Yep."

"I can't even believe Jasmine is related to you guys. I mean, Jamal is cool, you're sweet and she's..."

"Evil," she chuckled, "have you ever seen 'Seed of Chucky?'"

I nodded.

"Remember Glen/Glenda?"

"Yeah."

"Well, that's Jamal & Jasmine. Jamal is sweet and I love him, but Jasmine is a lunatic."

I laughed at the way she described her siblings. She's very imaginative.

"Lis!"

She looked to see who called her and grinned when a girl walked up to the table.

"Happy birthday, sweetie!" she said, giving Jalissa a hug.

"Thanks, hon. Colin, this is my best friend, Stephanie. Steph —"

"Oh. My. God."

She stopped, and her eyes got super wide. Her hands started shaking and she couldn't talk.

"Hi Stephanie," I said, smiling at her.

"H-Hi. You're C-Colin Kaepernick," she stuttered, "how do you know him, and why didn't you tell me?" She slapped Jalissa's arm, making her laugh.

"It's a long story that I'll tell you later."

"I hope this isn't too much to ask, but can I get a picture with you?" Stephanie asked.

"Of course."

Jalissa took the picture, and Stephanie looked at it like she would cherish it for the rest of her life.

"Well, y'all have fun," she said, "Lis, I'll call you later."

"Okay."

She walked out, and we just laughed about what happened.

"Sorry about her. She just really loves you. She has the biggest crush on you."

"It's okay. I thought it was cute," I said, "but speaking of crushes, do you have any?"

She looked up at me and smirked. "Yes."

"Really? On who? If you don't mind me asking."

"Well, I think Russell Wilson is cute, but I love Cam Newton," she said, "I've always wanted to meet him."

Her eyes seemed to sparkle when she said Cam's name and I won't even lie, it made me jealous.

"Is that so?"

"Yeah, and Colin Kaepernick is pretty attractive too, but I hear he has a kid. I guess that makes him a DILF."

I laughed in a way that only she could make me laugh. She's actually really funny for someone that's so quiet.

"I heard that too. The mother of his child is really beautiful though."

"Eh, she's okay. She's pretty bland if you ask me. She doesn't strike me as his type."

"Well I like her. I think she's perfect," I said. We smiled at each other, and I took her hands in mine.

"So, when do you leave?" she asked, looking at our intertwined fingers.

"Tomorrow," I said sadly.

"Oh..."

"Don't be upset, babe. We'll see each other when you come out next week."

"Yeah, you're right," she said, cheering up a little.

I kissed the back of both her hands and watched as a smile crept up on her face. I swear, she gets even more beautiful every time she smiles.

Logan started crying, so Jalissa put the pacifier in her mouth, but she spit it out.

"Logan, it is not cute to act ratchet like this in public," Jalissa said, making me laugh.

She took Logan out of the little high chair and she stopped crying. Logan giggled and she reached out for me. Honestly, it felt really good having her be so comfortable with me after only a couple days. I love this little girl so much already.

"Oh, so you wanna go to Daddy?" Jalissa said.

She handed Logan to me, and I sat her in my lap. She looked up at me and giggled again, making me smile.

"Oh my God, she's already such a Daddy's Girl," Jalissa said, looking at us and smiling.

As I watched Jalissa make funny faces at Logan, I couldn't help but think about how happy I am.

Even though Jalissa & I aren't together, I love my little family.
