Jalissa's POV

I was stressed. I had a really big test coming up, work was very hectic and recently, my once friendly & adorable daughter had turned into the seed of Chucky, and she's only eight months old. She started teething, I was still breast feeding, and it hurts like hell. And of course once she starts crying, Colin was the only one that could get her to stop.

I was lying on the floor, studying, and Logan was sitting on the couch, carelessly chewing on her teething ring. She's cute when she's not screaming bloody murder.

While I was looking over my notes, I felt something on my lower back. I thought it was Bruno, but then I felt something rough against my cheek followed by a set of lips.

"Hey baby," Colin said in my ear.

"Hey."

"Whatcha doin'?"

"Studying."

"And how has the little one been treating you today?"

"She's been surprisingly calm. As long as she has one of her teething rings in her mouth, she's fine."

"That's good," he said, kissing down my neck, putting me at ease. "Lis, what's wrong? You seem extra tired today."

I sighed. "I am. After I got out of class, I went straight to your parents' house to pick Logan up, then I came here and started studying."

"What time did you go to sleep last night?" he asked.

"I didn't."

He got off my back and lied beside me, giving me the most worrisome expression. "Baby girl, I don't want you staying up like that, especially with your school & work schedule."

"I'm sorry. I won't do it again."

He smiled and placed a soft kiss to my forehead. I closed my laptop, folded my arms and lied my head down.

Just as I was about to close my eyes...

"Da da."

Colin & I looked at each other then snapped our heads toward Logan, who was still chewing on her teething ring and looking at Colin.

He jumped up off the floor and picked Logan up, making her giggle. I sat back on the couch and watched the two interact. They always brought a smile to my face.

"What's wrong?" Colin asked, sitting next to me.

"My baby girl just said her first word. Before you know it, she's gonna be walking & talking. Next thing you know, she's eighteen, going to college, and then she's gonna get married and have kids and we'll be grandparents. I ca—"

"Jalissa, calm down," he chuckled.

"Sorry," I said sheepishly.

He laughed at me again before kissing my temple. Logan started pulling at my shirt, which meant she was hungry. I mentally groaned because no matter how hard I tried to get her to drink from a bottle or eat something else, she wouldn't.

"I'll be right back," I said to Colin.

I went to the kitchen and cut up a banana into small pieces, then went back in the living room with Colin & Logan. I tried to feed her one of the banana pieces, but she just cried and turned her head.

"Maybe she'll eat it if you give it to her," I said, handing the bowl to Colin.

He tried to give her one, but she did the same thing.

"Why doesn't she want it?" he asked. "She's hungry, right?"

"I'll show you why."

I took Logan and lifted my shirt so I could feed her and of course, she latched on with no problem.

"I wouldn't want bananas either if that's the alternative," Colin smirked.

"Don't be nasty," I laughed.

I lied back on the couch and put my legs in his lap. I figured since he was in a good mood, now would be the perfect time to tell him what had been bothering me lately.

"Colin?"

"Hm?"

"You know how you always ask me what's wrong, and I just say I'm tired?"

"Yeah."

"Well, I haven't been completely honest."

"What do you mean?" I pulled my phone out of my pocket and showed him the thread of messages I've been getting from an unsaved number. "Who is this?" he asked, scrolling through the messages.

"Scroll all the way down to the last message."

He looked at me skeptically, but he did it. He read the message, then looked back at me with his eyebrow raised.

"Jasmine?"

I closed my eyes and slowly nodded. For the last three weeks, Jasmine had been sending me messages about wanting to see her niece. When I told her "no," she flipped out and basically threatened me. I know she'll do it too because she's crazy and I don't trust her. That's why I'm so scared.

"You really think she'll come here?" Colin asked, giving me my phone back. I nodded. "She doesn't know where we live though, so I'm sure you have nothing to worry about."

"She found my phone number, so I'm pretty sure she'll figure out where you live. The girl is crazy, and she needs to be locked up somewhere."

He put his arm around me and placed a lingering kiss to my temple. "Don't you worry your pretty little head about your sister. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you or Logan. I promise."

I smiled at his protective demeanor and he kissed my nose, making a childish giggle escape my mouth.

He put his forehead against mine and smiled at me. "I love you, Jalissa," he said with his lips just inches away from mine.

"I love you too, Colin."

He pressed his lips against mine, closing the minuscule gap between us. Before he could get carried away, Logan put her hand on his face and kinda pushed him away, making me laugh.

I love spending time with these two.
