ch. 26 || drama

•Jalissa's POV•

Even though I had a short work day, it was still really stressful. We had a lot of patients today since we were closed yesterday and on top of that, one of the other PTAs was giving me a hard time for no reason.

When I got home, I went straight up to the bedroom. Colin was lying on the bed playing with Logan, and I immediately forgot about my day.

"Y'all are so cute," I said, stepping inside the room.

"Say 'hi Mommy,'" Colin said, grabbing Logan's wrist and waving.

"Hi baby," I said, kissing her cheek and lying on the bed.

"Hey," he said, giving me a peck on the lips.

"Hey." I rested my head on his chest and closed my eyes.

"How was work?"

I groaned. "It was so tiring. I'm just glad I'm home now."

I felt myself drifting off, but I was jolted awake when my phone buzzed, indicating a text message.

i wanna see the baby.

Ughhhhh!

me: when?

today? 5:30?

me: ok.

"Giovanna wants to see Logan, so I'm gonna take her over there later. Do you wanna come?" I asked with my head still against his chest.

"Sure."

I let out a little sigh of relief, hoping he didn't hear it, but he did.

"What's wrong?" he asked. "Does Antonio still bother you."

"Yeah..."

5:35 p.m.

We pulled up outside of Gi's apartment building but I didn't see her car anywhere, so I decided to call her to see where she was.

"Hey, we're here. Where are you?"

"I went out to get food."

I closed my eyes and rubbed my temple with my free hand. "You coulda told me that before we drove over here."

"Sorry, but y'all can just go up. Tony's in there."

I shook my head at her suggestion, even though she couldn't see me. "Nah, we'll just wait until you get here."

"That's crazy," she chuckled. "Just go up, and Tony will let you in."

I rolled my eyes and hung up without another word. We got out the car and made our way inside the building. I knocked on the door to Giovanna's apartment and when Antonio answered the door, I got a gut-wrenching feeling in my stomach.

"Hey Jalissa. What's up, Colin? What are y'all doing here?"

"Giovanna wanted to see Logan," I said kinda standoffish.

"Oh. Well, she's not here."

"I know. She told us to come up and wait for her," I said, trying to contain my attitude.
