Colin's POV

After I got out of practice, I talked to Jalissa for a while. She sounded either tired or upset, but she assured me nothing was wrong. Even though I know something's bothering her, I was happy I got to hear her voice. Just the mere mention of her name could make my day better.

While I was talking to Michael in the parking lot, Giovanna rudely walked up and interrupted our conversation.

"Well hello to you too, Giovanna," I said sarcastically.

"Colin."

I rolled my eyes because she's still being annoying. She & I haven't really talked since Jalissa left, but I needed to ask her something.

"When was the last time you talked to your cousin?" I asked when Michael walked away.

"I haven't talked to her since you ruined our relationship a couple months ago," she said.

"I didn't do anything," I said defensively.

"If you would have just stayed away from her like I told you, she & I would still be close."

"Gi, that had nothing to do with me. The reason there's a strain on your relationship is because you kept trying to tell her what to do. And on top of that, she came here to be with you and you didn't ever bother to spend time with her."

I know what I said bothered her, but she needed to hear that.

"I gotta go," I said, leaving her in the parking lot. I went home to take a shower and got ready for tonight.

After I took a shower, I decided to call Jalissa because I didn't like the sound of her voice when I last talked to her.

The phone rang a few times before she actually answered.

"Hello?"

"Is everything okay?"

"Yeah. why?"

"Last time I talked to you, you sounded upset."

"Oh...I'm fine."

I heard her sniffling which means she's obviously not "fine."

"Jalissa, what's wrong? And don't say nothing because I can hear you crying."

"I just, I, I'm not feeling so good."

"Why don't you get some rest. I'll call you later to see how you're doing."

"Alright."

"Bye."

"Colin, wait!"

"Yeah?"

"I uh, I'm..."

I furrowed my eyebrows at her stammering. "What is it?"

She sighed. "I just wanted to say happy birthday, again."

"Thank you again, babe. I'm gonna call you later, okay?"

"Okay. Bye."

"Bye."

I knew she didn't wanna just tell me happy birthday. I could tell she had something important to tell me by the way she sighed.

I wish she would tell me what's bothering her.

Jalissa's POV

I decided to go to see my doctor because I didn't really trust that pregnancy test. I was glad my doctor could see me on such short notice, but I wasn't all that happy when she told me that I'm eleven weeks pregnant.

I've been crying ever since I left the doctor's office because I didn't know what my parents would say, and I didn't want Colin to hate me. He called me earlier, but I couldn't bring myself to tell him. I didn't wanna ruin his birthday.

When I got home, I dried my eyes the best I could and went inside. My parents were in the living room, and they seemed to be in a good mood. For now.

"Hey Jay," my dad said, "have you been crying?"

"Jalissa, what's wrong?" my mom asked.

"Can y'all promise not to scream or yell at me because it'll only make me feel worse," I cried.

"Jalissa, what's going on?"

"I'm pregnant..."

"Ja—"

I cut my mom off by getting the picture of the sonogram out of my pocket and showing it to them. They looked at the picture and then at each other.

"I'll move out," I said quietly, making them snap their heads towards me. "I'll move out so you won't have to worry about me or the ba—"

"Jay, calm down," my dad said, "we're not mad."

"What?"

"We're not mad," my mom smiled, "you're gonna have a baby!"

They both jumped up and practically tackled me for a hug. My parents are so confusing.

"Wait, y'all are okay with this?" I asked, "you're not even a little disappointed?"

"Lis listen, you've been a perfect child your whole life, and we're not gonna get upset with you over this. Besides, we're getting another grandchild," my mom said, giving me another hug.

"How far along are you?" my dad asked.

"Eleven weeks. My due date is May 22nd."

"Ooooh, I'm so excited. My baby's having a baby!" my mom said with tears in her eyes.

"So, who's the father?" my dad asked, making my stomach sink to the floor.

I didn't wanna tell them because I'm not ready to tell them, and I know they won't believe me. So for now, it'll be my secret.

"Uh, just a friend of mine."

"Who?"

"Y'all don't know him."

"Do you plan on telling him?" my dad asked.

I had to think about that for a while. What if I tell Colin, and he wants nothing to do with me or the baby? But I mean, I do want to tell him because I want the child to know his or her father.

"Jay?"

"Huh?" I said, snapping out of my thoughts.

"Are you gonna tell him?"

"Y-yeah...

...eventually."
