Colin's POV

"C-Colin...what are you doing here?"

She seemed nervous or afraid. She probably wass, but she shouldn't be; it's not like I'm mad.

"I came to see you," I said, taking a step in her direction. "I wanted to see how you're doing."

"You came all the way from San Francisco to check on me?"

"Well, yeah. You never answer my phone calls anymore, so I figured I'd come see you in person."

She ran her fingers through her hair and looked around for a minute.

"Is it true?" I asked.

She looked up at me and furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "Is what true?

"That you have a baby."

Her eyes widened a little, and she twiddled with her fingers. "Y-Yeah."

"And it's mine?" I asked, even though I already knew. I just wanted to hear her say it.

"Yeah," he said quietly. "Uh, why don't you come in?"

She led me into her house and into the living room, where we sat on the couch. Before I could say anything, two people, who I assumed were her parents, walked in.

"What is Colin Kaepernick doing in my house?" her mom asked, a little stunned.

"Mom, Dad, this is Colin."

"The Colin you told me about?" her mom smirked.

She nodded. "Colin, these are my parents, Cheryl & Radric."

I stood up to shake her parents' hands when suddenly, a baby started crying.

"Mom, can you bring her to me?" Jalissa asked.

Her mom disappeared and when she came back, she was holding a little light skinned baby with a head full of black hair. She handed the baby to Jalissa, and she immediately stopped crying.

"So, what are you doing here?" her dad asked me.

Jalissa & I looked at each other because neither of us really knew how to say it.

"Mama, Daddy...remember when I told y'all Logan's dad was a friend of mine?" Jalissa said hesitantly.

"Yeah."

She pursed her lips together and pointed at me. "Well, this is that friend."

They looked at her, then they looked at me, then back at her.

"Colin Kaepernick is Logan's father?!" they asked in unison.

"Yes," she said plainly. "Uh, can we have a minute alone?"

They left, and it got really quiet.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked, turning to face her.

"I wanted to, but I didn't have the courage to tell you. I didn't wanna ruin your life," she said.

"Did you think I wouldn't take care of her?"

"I don't know. I had a lot going through my mind," she said, getting frustrated with herself.

"Like what?"

"I wanted you to focus on football, and I didn't want you to worry about us. I also didn't want people to think I trapped you," she said as a tear rolled down her cheek. "Then I thought about your personal life and how you probably wouldn't want a kid right now and then I figured you wouldn't want anything to do with us."

I lifted her chin and wiped her eyes. I didn't like seeing her upset like that.

"Hey, don't worry about what other people think. We both know you didn't get pregnant on purpose," I said, "and having a kid right now isn't the end of the world. I mean, I am getting older."

She laughed a little while bouncing Logan on her knee.

"And don't ever think I wouldn't want anything to do with you," I said, running my thumb over her cheek. "I like you, Lis and now that we have a kid together, I want to be there for both of you."

She smiled, and I smiled back before she gave me a friendly kiss on the cheek. She kissed Logan's nose, which made her giggle.

"Can I hold her?" I asked nervously.

"Of course you can."

She handed Logan to me, and she looked right into my eyes. She seemed so fascinated.

"Now, is she Logan Tucker or Logan Kaepernick?" I asked.

"Logan Tucker."

"Do you think that could change in the future?"

"It's possible," she smiled.

I smiled at her response and turned my attention back to Logan, who hasn't stopped looking at me since I started holding her.

I can't believe I have a daughter.
