Eve sat by the Black Lake, Tom approaching her.

It had been a week since they had sex but they had barely spoke to each other due to the insane stress of school taking over them.

"Darling", Tom said as he sat by Eve, lighting a cigarette. She held her hand out as he blew out the smoke, giving her the cigarette.

"Hm?" Eve muttered as she stared at the lake ahead of them, Tom's eyes admiring the girl next to him.

"We haven't spoken in a while", Tom stated, wrapping his arm around Eve. She laid her head on his shoulder, the cold wind rustling through her hair.

"It's just the stress of school", Eve said, looking down. "I was going to talk to you earlier today but I got busy with studying".

"Would you fancy a date tonight in the library?" Tom asked. "Just me, you, and a bottle of wine I managed to obtain". Eve smiled at Tom, pressing the cigarette to her lips.

"That sounds more than perfect", Eve whispered as she stared at Tom. He smiled, picking the cigarette out of her fingers as he tapped off the ash.

"I've been thinking", Tom said. "Your birthday is coming up in a month".

"Yeah and?" Eve said, her eyes moving towards the lake, admiring the view.

"What do you want for your birthday?" Tom whispered, placing his finger under her chin and moving her face so she looked at him.

"I don't know yet", Eve said. "Surprise me". She shot him a mischievous grin, his mind going to much more dirtier things.

"Alright darling", he smiled. "Shall we relax in the common room?"

"Yeah, you can go ahead", Eve muttered. "I'll follow along later".

"Of course love", Tom said, kissing her forehead before he stood up, walking away.

Eve turned around, watching his figure disappear into the thick fog. Her hand snuck into her bra, removing the bag of the white powder. She noticed how small the amount was, the feeling of disappointment washing over as she opened the bag.

"Is this what you want to do?" a voice in Eve's mind asked her. She closed her eyes, inhaling deeply.

"Yes".

She pulled a book out of her bag, pouring the last of the powder onto it. As she separated the cocaine into lines, the feeling of washed out guilt began to chew her up as she leaned her head down, snorting harshly.

"Ah fuck", Eve muttered, furrowing her brows in pain as her nose began to bleed. She quickly switched nostrils, that euphoric feeling appearing then morphing into paranoia as she felt her senses heighten in the worst way possible.

"Brax?" Cleo asked as she walked over towards the pale boy that sat in the Great Hall, chewing on his food slowly. Tom sat across from him, staring at Cleo.

"Yeah?" Abraxas said, looking up at Cleo. She stared down at him, raising her eyebrows in the direction of the doorway. He smiled at her, then looked at Tom.

"I'm going out", Abraxas stated before leaving with Cleo.

Tom stared at the doorway, watching Abraxas and Cleo leave as Eve entered, stumbling a bit. He watched as her dark eyes wandered around the hall, spotting Tom. She glided towards him, sitting down as her head almost slammed into her plate.

"Darling", Tom said sternly. "Are you alright?"

He grabbed her by her shoulders, making her sit upright. She lowered her eyes as she stared at him, the energy buzzing through their veins.
