"Wine", Eve stated as she stared at her book. The cold glass touched her palm as she took it from Rhea, bringing it up to her lips.
The last two weeks were filled with remarkable pain, grief, shock, heartache, and anger. Eve had started going to her classes, dreading each day as it arrived. The wavering sadness that had once clouded Eve's heart had turned into a fog of numbness.
Along with Rhea and Abraxas.
"What are you doing for Easter break?" Rhea asked as she looked at Eve.
"I don't know", Eve muttered. "My mum and I are on awful terms".
Rhea bit the inside of her cheek, looking up at her friend.
"You're always welcome to my house".
Eve bit her bottom lip, staring at the ground.
"Maybe I should owl her?". Uncertainty was an obvious tone in her voice, brows furrowed in a deep thought process.
"Maybe", Rhea muttered. "Do you want to go to the library and pick out books with our eyes closed?".
Eve smiled, staring at Rhea. "Yeah".
She closed her eyes once more, taking another massive sip of the wine before standing up, smoothing out the creases in her skirt. The bottle clinked against her bed as she step back a bit.
"Anyways so I was thinking that we could like, go to the forest", Rhea suggested. "Possibly search for unusual magical creatures?".
"That sounds cool", Eve smiled. "We can visit Bramwell in the greenhouse and see what new plants he's gotten".
As they entered the common room, Eve had noticed two girls sitting on the couches, whispering loudly to one another.
"Mulciber ate me out last weekend", Olive Hornby said as she looked up at Rhea, who was now walking further away from the dorms.
"After he broke up with that crazy goth bitch?" Violet Parkinson muttered out loud. The two girls eyed Rhea, who was now paused in her movements, staring down at the two girls who sat on the sofas.
"Got anymore shit to say?" Eve spat.
"Ah look, Riddle's little slut", Olive retorted. "I always wondered why he chose you. You're not even as popular as I am".
Eve felt a jab of pain slam against her chest as she heard this, eyebrows furrowing in anger.
"Popular?" Rhea breathed. "No one's seen you around the halls recently".
"That doesn't mean shit", Olive barked back. "You're just mad that your ex ate me out".
Rhea's right eye twitched, anger and panic boiling in her. She didn't know whether to laugh or puke.
"You're only saying this shit to get on my fucking nerves!" Rhea shouted. "You delusional bitch!".
"Olive", Eve asked. "Didn't your best friend get split in half on a spire?". Oh fuck, I shouldn't have said that, Eve thought. Too bad.
Eve didn't care about the words that spewed out of her mouth, her drunken state taking over her thoughts, the rational thoughts being clouded by corrupt ones.
Olive parted her lips a bit, eyes filled with malice as she shot a dirty glare to Eve.
"Are you fucking serious?" Violet began. "Aurelia was important to her!".
"And?" Eve said, her eyes burning into Violet's gaze. She hadn't noticed that Rhea wasn't even beside her.
"Didn't your friend die too?" Olive said, her voice shaky of rage. "Doesn't that cancel it out?".
