The cold breeze entering through the open window, allowing the curtains to dance. The sounds of birds chirping, the early morning rush. The smell of chocolate coming from the kitchen.

Her eyes shot open, allowing them to adjust to the sunlight that poured in her room from her window. She stood up, her bare feet touching the cold wood floor as she made her way to close the window. Her hands moved pieces of her black hair behind her ear as she searched for her sweater.

It was too early for any sort of human interaction.

"Evangeline!", a voice called from downstairs. It was her mother. Eve rubbed her eyes as she slowly made her way downstairs, making sure to close the door behind her.

The air in France was different from the air in England and she hasn't yet adjusted to the atmosphere although she's lived in France for almost ten years.

"What do you need, mum?" she questioned, looking up at her.

"It's time for breakfast", she announced. "Malcolm will be coming over today, please be civil towards him". Evangeline rolled her eyes. She absolutely despised her mother's boyfriend but she had to remain calm or else it wouldn't be lovely for her.

Eve made her way upstairs as she had plans to sleep in more but that thought was interrupted by the door opening and a whole lot of commotion.

"Malcolm sweetheart!", her mother shouted. Evangeline turned her head to see Malcolm hugging her mother. However when his eyes met Eve's, they turned to a nasty glare.

"What is Eve doing here?" Malcolm sneered while glaring at you. The urge to cuss him out was quite strong but she kept your composure and let out a fake smile.

"Hey Malcolm", Eve said with a hint of sarcasm. "How was your trip to London?". Being nice to Malcolm was the last thing the girl ever wanted to do, but she had to put on a fake act. For three fucking years.

"It was phenomenal ", he muttered. The hating tension between Malcolm and Evangeline had grown thick. Thankfully her mother managed to save the day.

"I made chocolate chip pancakes to complement the bacon and eggs", said Cordelia. She hated when her boyfriend treated her daughter like shit.

"I'm not hungry", Eve said, still keeping eye contact with Malcolm before she disappeared upstairs. In reality she was, but the thought of eating at the same table with Malcolm just made her want to vomit.

Malcolm rolled his eyes. "Fucking bitch", he muttered under his breath.

Eve made her way back to her room. She didn't need to deal with Malcolm's bullshit.

He's not my real dad, I shouldn't have to worry about him, Eve thought to herself as she walked into her room. She made her way towards her bed, kneeling down and sticking her hand under it until she felt a box.

Her hand pulled the medium sized box out from under her bed. It was a silver box with black ribbon on it. Within the box laid some of the most important artifacts to Eve.

Pictures of her when she was four on her father's lap. It was slightly blurry but they both looked content. Her mother was next to her father smiling at the camera while her dad was looking at her mom. Eve felt her eyes start to water.

There were more photographs of them together but she held this one the most close to her as it reminded her of how happy she once was. She then pulled out the necklace her father gave her. The silver key with a dark red jewel. Garnet, a gem that was symbolized for balance, love, and success.

She remembered how her father taught her gemstones and how each of them symbolized something. Garnet and emerald were her favorites as they meant something to her. Her mother on the other hand taught her about how important being a Pureblood was in the wizarding world.

However she wasn't taught to hate Muggleborns.

The door creaked open and her mother was there with a plate filled with chocolate chip pancakes and bacon. Eve immediately shoved the photographs into the box while keeping the necklace in her hand. She pushed the box back under the bed with her foot.

"Come in", Evangeline said, allowing her mom to enter, closing the door behind her.

"I'm sorry for Malcolm, Evie. But I promise it will get better", Cordelia reassured. She watched her daughter slowly eat but was quick to notice the necklace. She smiled.

"You know why he gave you that necklace?" her mom asked.

"To keep me safe and to show that he loves me no matter the situation", Eve said, smiling at the idea of her father.

"Come downstairs for lunch soon, darling. We have a lot to talk about", her mother said, taking the plate from her.

Eve stared at the necklace and then put it in. She suddenly felt a huge surge of power enter her. What the fuck, She thought. Not thinking much of it, she made her way into the bathroom to shower and get changed. The necklace though, would be so much more significant later on in Eve's life. She just didn't know it. Yet.

Tom Riddle stared out the window of his room at the orphanage. His sixth year at Hogwarts was approaching and he felt as though something different was going to happen. Every time he looked upon the graveyard, he felt a strange energy. He couldn't put his finger on it though as to why he felt that but he was soon to find out.

As night fell upon the orphanage, he snuck out, walking towards the graveyard.

The energy he felt was becoming more and more powerful the more he walked towards the cemetery. Soon the energy felt as if it was going to explode but it all went away when he reached a certain tombstone.

"Lawrence Atticus Noir

Beloved father and husband

December 24, 1899 - October 30, 1933"

Tom stared at the tombstone, observing it.

Girl in black, his mind raced. The red glint. I have to find it, he thought before making his way back to the orphanage.
