Eve stared at Alastair, his eyes filled with confusion.

"Cordelia never mentioned you".

Eve felt her heart drop into her stomach as he said this, pure pain filling her heart. What the fuck.

"Well-".

Eve didn't know what to say, her mind void of words. She closed her eyes, trying to calculate what to say without insulting the man in front of her.

"Sweetheart!".

Eve opened her eyes, spotting Cordelia rush to the door. Her brown hair was held up in rollers, a bath robe also covering her.

"I'm so sorry that I couldn't get you from the station", Cordelia began. "I wanted to surprise you".

Eve rolled her eyes, walking into the house.

"Is Tom with you?".

"Who's Tom?".

"Tom's at the Malfoy Manor", Eve began. "He'll come by once in awhile".

Cordelia nodded, taking another sip of whiskey from the crystal glass she was holding. Eve noticed this, shooting a glare towards her mother.

"Get showered", Cordelia smiled. "You can get to know Alastair".

Eve rolled her eyes once more, walking past her mother with her luggage and her beloved black cat. She had felt disappointed - not just in herself but in the surroundings she had to face for the next two weeks.

Her room was as normal as it seemed, the bed made, curtains wide open. She dropped her luggage, walking over to the window. Her eyes shifted to the graveyard, sighing deeply as the energy penetrated through her body. She jolted a bit, moving away from the window as she now faced the mirror.

Tom's sweater, I'm still wearing it, Eve thought. She lifted up her arm, inhaling deeply of the sweater. A smile crawled onto her face, his scent deeply engraved into her mind. She slipped it off, laying it on her bed. She grabbed a turtleneck and a pair of plaid short and black tights, walking to the bathroom.

The sound of cutlery clanking against fine china was the only noise throughout the silent dinner. Eve watched how Alastair brought her mother glasses and glasses of whiskey, mainly at her request.

"How did you guys meet?" Eve interjected, her eyes now glued to Alastair. The man had chestnut brown hair that was gelled a certain way, his grey eyes seeming emotionless and void of any sort of entertainment. She heard Alastair give off a very annoyed sigh, biting the inside of her cheek.

"We met through a friend", Cordelia smiled. "It was quite funny actually".

"Really?" Eve asked. She could sense that something off. Extremely off.

"Cordelia is quite the talker", Alastair said, sarcasm being an obvious tone in his voice. Eve picked up on this, looking up from her plate to stare at Alastair.

"Why thank you Al", Cordelia said. She cut the steak that sat on her plate, a sharp exhale leaving her mouth.

"How often do you stop by?" Eve asked as she poured herself a cup of water. The silence that followed was very unsettling.

"He lives here now".

Eve looked at her mother, her eyes clouded with disbelief.

"What?".

"Sorry Eve", Alastair began. "I understand this may be a bit of a shock to you but-".

"What do you do for a living?" Eve began. Her eyes narrowed at the man, watching him closely.
