The Black Lake seemed calm as Cleo laid on the deck, her hazel eyes staring at the cloud-filled sky that seemed to linger over the castle.

Her ears perked up at the sound of footsteps nearing her, her gaze moving towards the black-haired girl that stared down at her.

"Something's wrong", Eve muttered.

"How would you know?" Cleo asked as she sat up, watching at Eve followed her motions, sitting beside her.

"You only come to the deck when you feel like shit", Eve said as she brushed a piece of hair out of her face. "What's wrong?".

Cleo sighed, holding her face in her hands as she stared at the deck, watching the water through the cracks.

"I think Abraxas doesn't love me anymore".

The silence that followed wasn't comforting nor awkward either. It was the silence of a deep thought process.

"Are you sure about that?".

"He's been so distant lately", Cleo breathed. "And whenever I ask to see him, he always bails out last minute. Do you think it could be because I'm a half-blood?".

Eve turned her head, shaking it. "I doubt it".

"I'm not a Pureblood Slytherin", Cleo said. "I'm nothing he's going to want in a few years".

The defeat in Cleo's voice was an obvious factor as Eve was able to process the situation. The girls sat on the deck in silence, a drop of rain hitting the tip of Cleo's nose.

"You can still love him", Eve said. "Even though his family is against everything about you".

"I guess so", Cleo muttered. "There's something I have to tell you".

"What?".

Cleo exhaled sharply, preparing herself for the words that were about to exit her very own mouth.

"I think I'm pregnant".

Eve turned her head slowly, eyebrows risen in complete and utter awe as she stared at Cleo, her eyes filling with tears.

"And how do you know this?".

"We had sex a few weeks back and morning sickness has been a common occurrence in my morning routine", Cleo sputtered. "I have to tell him soon but it's-it's so overwhelming".

"How do you want to tell him?" Eve asked as she stared at the lake. Cleo shrugged wiping away her tears.

"I genuinely don't know", Cleo said. "I think I'd rather die instead".

Eve exhaled, staring at the clouds. She hadn't been able to think clearly but she was more than sure that she could help her friend out in this situation.

"Find out an easier way to tell him", Eve said as she lightly smiled. "Better to be honest than lie to him".

Cleo nodded as she leaned towards Eve, hugging her.

"I love you Evie", she whispered. "Thank you".

"I love you too".

"Also Eve?".

"Yeah?".

"Don't tell anyone what I told you", Cleo said as she stood up, walking away from Eve. She inhaled deeply, staring at the castle through the thick fog, trying to calm down her shaking nerves as she stepped closer to the castle.

Her breath swirled out in front of her in thick circles as it was mid-January. She felt a drop of rain drop onto her forehead as she began to notice a dark tall figure walking slowly, her eyes narrowing to get a better glimpse. A few details such as dark curly hair began to appear as she realized that Tom was walking towards the deck.
